I am right with you Fred. Regan has always been one of my favorite presidents and I'm proud he was governor of CA. I've got family on my wife's side in NJ. No damn way I'd move there. Would love to be somewhere easier on the budget but it is a real tradeoff. Not going to shovel snow or live anywhere where the weather reporter has to talk about heat index. Most likely staying here with my 10 round magazines and crazy taxes.Born here in ‘58 at UCLA Medical Center…Can’t get more native that that. With the exception of living in Colorado for a few years in the 80’s, it’s been ok.
My family, friends and church are here so it’s hard to leave.
The Mrs retired the end of last year and I’ll be doing the same here real quick, I’m just dabbling.
My wife has family in Nebraska, Colorado (where we met), Wyoming and Ohio. Wyoming is looking real good to us for retirement but we haven’t decided yet. We’re set financially so we can stay. That said, we’d save about 2-3K a month in taxes and other cost of living moving to Wyoming. Do I want to move back to snow country with freezing temps 4-5 months a year? I don’t know.
I’ve been fortunate to live in pretty conservative areas for the last 42 years, makes a big difference.
Heck, Colorado, as beautiful as it is has changed drastically as well.
People forget Ronald Regan was from California. Kevin McCarthy is my Congressman and soon to be Speaker Of the House.
If you don’t mind the smog regulations and the state anti gun laws, it’s a great place to live if your not in a big city. The big cities have turned to cesspools.
I absolutely agree there are plenty of us here that hold conservative values, we’re just outnumbered.
