Last weekend I installed a Jl Audio stealthbox, a XD300/1v2 amp, and a 8 guage power kit. While I'm still working on the fine details and finishing touches of the install. I did want to share the amp rack solution I came up with.
I haven't yet figured out how to past pictures in posts correctly, so they'll probably just pile up at the end.
I used the hard foam tire inflator holder / trunk floor reinforcement to hold one end of a wooden rack. The other end rests on a thin piece of sound deadener. All the wires are hidden and lead to the spare tire well. The whole thing is held in place by the factory foam hold down bolt. Seems to work well for those of us with small amps.
Speaking of amps, this thing pounds hard. Size isn't everything here are guess. Makes for easy installs, especially when you consider that you don't need a external line out converter. Just tap into the rear speakers from underneath the rear deck with an rca cable and go right to the amp.
Also, I don't know if anyone had posted a picture of wiring the amp through the bottom of the battery box. The hole I used just needed to be widened a little bit for the 8 guage to fit. Then on through the grommet. I sealed up the grommet hole with copious amounts of black sealant (rtv I think). Should keep any water out.
Hopefully this info helps someone. Even if not, there are tons of great ideas and knowledge on this board.
