I'm assuming the subs and amps are not included in that price.
Correct. 700 is just labor cost for the whole system. Polk MM speakers all around and subs and amps and box, and wiring and labor had me around $2,600.

Thats not bad. I've seen people pay $2000 for inferior equipment.

I choose the cheap way out. I installed the OEM Shaker subwoofer from the Shaker Pro system.

I have the Premium Sound system (base) with the 300A package. Works OK but it ain't no boomer.

Simple and out of the way. Built the fiberglass enclosure myself. It's not perfect but it gets the job done.

Wish you had been on this site a little longer... you would have found the shaker sub is weak and saved yourself some money :(

Greetings!

Here is my setup. Many thanks for the trail-blazers that posted their ideas, tips, and solutions!

Got these items from Crutchfield (they do have some items for Mustang's now, but still no master sheets):

The items I picked may not be high $ items, but they do have excellent frequency response range for the price!

- Blaupunkt GTx 663 DE / 40-22,000 Hz
(these would work too: Pioneer TS-A1675R 6-12 3-Way: 35-31,000 Hz, found these later)
- Pioneer TS-T110 / 2,500-30,000 Hz
- Infinity Reference X REF-3002cfx / 85-21,000 Hz
- Sound Ordnance B-8P / 46-150 Hz
+ Wiring Kit
= Total only $272

and So, I...

- Mounted Tweeters in A Pillars, a bit of dremel tool, some hot glue & zip ties.
- Infinities worked in the door & sound great
- Blaupunkt's 6 1/2's fit in the back with mounting brackets, I tied the line level inputs from the Sub to these speakers. Used a fuse tap on fuse #23, for Sub remote, and ran the B+ wire through the grommit in the firewall on passenger side. Had to remove tire to get better leverage to push through.

The B-8P Sub sounds great! I have one of the rear seats opened about 1" to let some of the bass into the cabin. I added the trunk blocks to keep it from moving around.

The sound is like night and day, but Sirius/XM still sounds muddy. CD's, FM, and my iPod on USB sound great! I hope this info is helpful! :)

This is the reason I didn't go for 401A. It is a $2000 option here in Canada. I don't need memory seats because I'm the only driver and I don't need the seat to go back for me to get in/out, and I am torn on BLIS, because I really like the spotter mirrors.

That being said, I tested the 400A stereo and 401A, and I didn't feel the 401A was worth 2 grand. If it was, I would have added the option. I installed Hertz Dieci speakers in place of all the factory ones (less the center channel) for about $350 (installed myself), and just added a sub and amp for about $470 (installed myself), for a total of $820, and clarity wise, it blows the 401A out of the water, with more bass from my sub than the 401A would have. I could improve it further with a new amp driving the main speakers, and a DSP or something of the likes, but I'm currently happy with it for the price.

Actually I completely understood what I was doing. I didn't want to spend a lot of cash & wanted the OEM look. The only other OEM system sub out there is the JLAudio sub that's $800 for just the sub and then you have to purchase the amp.

My total investment was a little over $400. With the JLAudio sub I'd be well over $1000.

I just wish other audio manufactures would be on the bandwagon and develop a OEM style location for the sub. I'd love to get a MTX Audio sub but they don't have one for the 15-17 cars yet. :(

The OEM Shaker sub I have now just fills out the rear with bass. At high volume it does a good job.

Many people on here want the sub that blows them out the windows but this does just fine for me. ;)

I personally with OEM manufacturers would offer a REAL audio upgrade with brand name aftermarket quality speakers and amps. I'd pay a markup to have it installed at the factory. Cheap paper speakers with over-rated low power amps just don't cut it for me.

Even when you order cars with "Bose" systems, they're rocking paper cone speakers, and apparently in many cases, Bose did the tuning of the sound, but didn't provide "Bose" branded hardware?
