Out of interest I checked my now sold 69 plate GT for its MOT as was looking at another vehicles history so get nosy and check my old cars, one of which a 2008 C30 D5 has never failed its MOT well done to the person who purchased that. The GT FAILED on 3 items on its first MOT as follows:

  • Nearside Front Headlamp aim too high (4.1.2 (a))
  • Offside Front Headlamp aim too high (4.1.2 (a))
  • Parking brake efficiency below requirements (1.4.2 (a) (i))

One thing stands out for me the parking brake as I had flagged it on every service as having to much travel, not holding the car on steep inclines particulary well but was fobbed off everytime!!!! Also pretty shocked the headlights flagged a fail too as again would have thought they had been like this since PDI.

Sums up my faith in Ford UK knowing their round Mustangs

My car failed MOT in October for its handbrake. I managed to clean up the caliper and it was working fine untill recently so currently trying to find 2 new rear calipers without paying a fortune.

The Ford PDI process is next to useless, three out of four of my new Mustangs had incorrect wheel alignment and one had noticeably high headlight beam adjustment

Handbrake has an adjustment screw underneath the car and it's very easy to do. I would try to tighten it first rather than go shop for calipers which are likely fine.

Odd for a 3 year old car!
I adjusted the handbrake myself, also when I lowered it I adjusted the headlamps, just to where I thought they should be……it passed last Wednesday !
