Ford Perf parts don't have to be dealer installed, they just say it has to be installed by an ASE certified mechanic. I have the docs from my PP2 kit and that's what it says.

Speaking of car warranties... does anyone else get those annoying phone calls?

BTW How to make the software remove your number.

When unknown number calls. AT ANY TIME.

Answer-> Activate Mute -> Listen for a real person like you hear that person breathing. if nothing. just wait 12 seconds or if its a robo. you'll know. -> Let it hang up.

You will start to less and less then finally no more get these calls. By letting it just go to voicemail. It will know the number is active. By removing the voicemail the system auto removes your number from the call list and may follow up many weeks or days later and less frequently the more you do this. I live in bliss anymore.

My warranty guy also said doing the Roush stage 3 automatically voids all the powertrain warranty BUT Roush comes with an extended warranty that takes over your powertrain warranty... Now here's the rub... The Roush warranty covers the ROUSH parts from defects... If the supercharger causes your engine to blow they cover it...

If your axles blow while doing a drag launch, not covered.

All warranties are automatically voided if the car breaks at a competition racing event.

Lol according to this Ford can void your warranty for the "installation of a cell phone" LMAO...

Just saying don't worry about it too much most dealerships will just tell you to take the parts off before they work on the car. They wont rat u out.

It's easy money for them to replace warranty parts. The reason some dealerships mess with you is from my understanding ford sets a set rate and number of hours to perform a warranty service. And basically the dealer reports the issue and documents it then ford reviews it and reimburses them.

They don't like doing borderline stuff in case ford denies the coverage and they are stuck with the work. The warranty rep if she doesnt know the answer will usually just say no. BUT she isn't the final word.

So example. They need to replace your radiator. It has a crack in it, only 5k miles on the car, no sign of damage around. The book bills the job at 6 hours including parts. If they do it in 4. The dealers get paid the full 6hours plus the replacement parts. Easy money everyone's happy. Ford has a record of the issue.

If The job in reality takes 10hours they may dick with u about covering it... Because they dont want to eat the 4 hrs. In that case u can escalate it. And it Will get covered because they have to do it.

Last case say they spend 6hrs replace the radiator and ford says hey the radiator is fine after the investigation, now they are out 6hrs plus the cost of the radiator...

So dealers like doing warranty work especially if its a "slam dunk" case.

Ford cannot "void" your warranty.

That is 100% against the law.

"Void" is the wrong word to use when discussing mods and warranty work. A repair may not be covered if it was caused by a modification but that is not the same thing as "voiding" the warranty. For example, if I put a Whipple supercharger on my car and the engine blows up, Ford has every reason NOT to repair it under warranty. However, if I put the Whipple on and my power window, air conditioner, sound system or some other unrelated item fails, it is absolutely covered as long as I am in the warranty period.

I have had tunes and other mods on every car I have owned for at least 10 years and NEVER had a warranty claim denied. I will never forget what a service manager told me once when I was looking at a used Mustang with a CAI and full exhaust system. He said, "I don't pay my techs to find reasons NOT to do warranty work and we sure as hell don't look for ways to piss off customers by refusing to honor warranty claims." He went to to say that there are occasionally cases where Ford asks for photos or documentation if a repair seems sketchy but that is more the exception than the rule.
