Called Ford . Tunes wont void warranty

So I just called Ford. Not just the dealership but I assume what would be the main headquarters. Apparently what they told me is that any modifications or Tunes added to the car will not void the warranty as long as the problem cannot be traced back to those modifications causing the issue.
What do you guys think ? Has anyone heard otherwise?

I'm not risking it personally. Besides how would I prove the tune didn't cause a problem if Ford claims it did?

The SECOND you tune your engine you are making it operate outside of the parameters that it was designed to operate at. If ANYTHING in the engine fails they will 100% blame it on the tune, full stop. Yes there are a few "Bro" dealerships out there that will cover you, but 99% WILL NOT. If you tune your engine you must be willing and able to step up and pay out of pocket for replacement parts. I have seen people fight warranty work on a simple blow off valve or intake, dealers trying to blame a blown ringland on a intake etc.

IF YOU TUNE YOUR ENGINE YOU WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

Even then it would have to be very specific which they would never do. After doing some research you can get a Ford Performance tune and as long as a Ford certified dealer installs it you're ok problem is they don't have a 18-19 tune right now. I did some checking on their website and they stop at the 15-17 my.

I was considering an E85 tune till I started doing some digging. If Ford comes out with an E85 tune, that's a good reliable tune, and reasonably priced I'd buy it along with a CIA

You have it in writing. It is in the owners manual and warranty paperwork. Ford's stance is already stated.

Yep...can see it now. Anything and I mean anything having to do with your powertrain goes south and Ford says "Tune caused the problem". They leave themselves a ton of wiggle room and like any company if they can find a way NOT to pay out...they're not paying out

Let me help you trace that:

- Trans failure: tune put more power/torque through the drivetrain than it was designed to handle - void
- Suspension failure: extra power/torque put more stress on the suspension components under load - void
- Engine failure: pretty obvious - void
- Cat failure: not designed to handle that amount of fuel - void
- Spoiler flew off: not designed to sustain the type of wind resistance from going that fast - void

Falk, in my case its both...lol. You put a supercharger on the car, consider the warranty void, unless its a Ford approved product put on by a dealer according to Ford's warranty terms. Full stop.

If you can't accept the risk that comes with the blower, don't put it on the car. The risk is small, but its not zero. You can take some comfort in a lot of Mustang owners over a very long period of time not having motor trouble after supercharging, but thing do happen. Blown head gaskets, occasional melted pistons. Mostly because these guys push em hard and there's no room for error. A ping or two from a bad tank of gas, a worn fuel pump, and you can lose a motor at full throttle. You wanna play, you gotta pay, one way or the other.

Neither!

Nobody reads the manual anymore. If the O.P had or did a search here he would have found that had been answered already.


That horse has been beat to death, got brought back and beat again. People think they situation is unique rather than maybe trying to do a search to see if that question has been asked.
