We need a sticky for this. Mod friendly dealerships or not. What mods, which dealership, what kind of experience, what kind of repair etc..

I feel like getting into a dealership early with less miles on the car for a couple oil changes or tire rotations or whatever is a good idea. The box of donuts is genius.

It wasn't the donuts but the conversation I had with the dealer tech and advisor. So many people come in agitated due to issues with the car and take it out on us service employees like it's our fault(not talking about comebacks as that is our fault). I get a lot of attitude from my customers and it pretty much guarantees I'm only going to do my job and no more.

When I got my car worked on the dealership I feel went above and beyond and for that I recommend them to anyone in the Northern Virginia area for service(PM me for details).

Ford doesn't make a 700hp Mustang for me to buy. Guess I had to build one myself...warranty be damned.

I'm hoping the GT500 will address this problem in a couple of years.

Probably, but for what? $70k?> You can buy TWO GT's at that point. I say mod away and build that track monster now, while you want and can.

I don't think a sticky with a list of dealerships will help.

I think it varies highly on what the issue is, as well as if they need Ford to give the ok for the repair. I think the smaller/less expensive the warranty issue, the greater success. If you go in for a defective power seat adjuster you should be ok or general smaller type repairs. Bigger items or that need Ford approval (I'm guessing over a certain dollar amount but idk honestly how they work that part) may be a lot tougher as the dealership may not have discretion.

I agree, if you want hp mod away. The risk of possible repairs is much less cost than waiting for a GT500 or something that will cost $30-40k more than a GT. Even if you supercahrge and need $5k in repairs in the car lifetime (that's a high estimate too), your're still way ahead of buying a potential GT500 or GT350 even (at least $10k more than a GT)

Fair point but I feel like owning a shelby is about more than just the raw power. That said, there's a good chance i'll go FI if I still own my S550 in another three years.

You really think so? I had one warranty repair on my S197 -- new power steering module. I was told that if it wasn't in warranty, it would have cost $7,000 to repair, since it required removal and replacement of the entire engine to get at the power steering module, and that removal and re-installation of an engine was a $6,000 labor cost.

If you throw a rod because you're overboosted, it could easily cost you $8,000 for the new engine plus another $2,000 for accessories and another $8,000 for labor for getting everything hooked back up to its pre-mod state.

You sure you want to risk that?

People been doing that forever. Nothing new.

Like what has been stated earlier, some folks got deep pockets, lack common sense, or a combination of both. More power to them. But just don't b!tch about it.

I promise you a new block won't cost $20k to put in. Maybe at a dealership, I guess? But who takes their broken blown Coyote to a dealership for repair? Might as well buy a built block and go for really big power...at least that's my plan.

Agreed that people shouldn't moan about it breaking if it does. Pay to play. I get up and go to work everyday so I can drive one of the baddest cars on the road. Others' priorities are different, no biggie. Just move to the right so I can pass :).

my dealer told me if I want info on the nearest ROUSH shop they will supply it to me, and and was told any company that deals with ford is ok.. so I will be keeping my performance parts from roush and ford performance to play it safe... suspension, well.. they can suck it on that

Roush "shop?" Do you maybe mean, a Roush dealer? I wasn't aware there were shops that specialize in Roush.

There are people here ignorant enough to believe you are telling the truth.

A power steering module(I guess you are talking about the EPAS steering rack?) requires none of the BS you just posted. $1,500 tops to replace the EPAS.

Labor to replace an engine is less than a grand. I would know, I'm a dealer technician(Mercedes).
