From the picture, the spare is a 165/70-18. The circumference is 27.1" by definition. If you go with a 275/40-19 square setup, you'll be at 27.7" all the way around, a 2.2% split across the differential with the spare.
I just measured the brand new, zero miles Explorer spare and brand new, zero miles MPS4S 275/40-19. The spare has a circumference of 86" and diameter of 27 3/8" and the 275/40-19 has a circumference of 86 3/4" and diameter of 27 5/8". That is a difference of only 1/4" in diameter or 3/4" in circumference, either way, less than 1% difference. I'll add a 1 1/2" hub centric spacer to the trunk and the spare should now clear the 6-piston front calipers. This is solely for emergency use only.

Thanks for the measurements. Why 1-1/2" spacer vs. 1"?

To clear that big ass caliper. I forgot that I actually had a generic 5x4.5" 1.5" spacer from a trailer project and I used it to check today and 1.5" isn't even enough. The steel 18" Explorer spare and aluminum 18" Mustang spare both rub the 6-piston caliper with the 1.5" spacer. I went ahead and ordered a pair of 2" hub centric Mustang spacers today. This is just for emergency use to get me to a safer place to be picked up by the tow truck or home if close.

Now I'm wondering if a 1 incher will allow it to clear the standard Gt front brakes...

Has anybody fitted up the Automotive Authority wheel to confirm it fits (clears the calipers)?

They do it on video, it's up on their site. I would like to see someone measure the actual circumference of the AA 19" spare to see what it is.

Ordered the AA spare tire. Just got the spare not the whole kit. Also ordered the Ford Mustang Jack and accessories.

I’m glad I bought the AA spare tire kit. I feel much better having it vs the mobility kit.

Wait for a tow truck?? Hell no.

Got my AA spare and Ford Mustang jack, lug wrench, retainer and plate. Going to put them in the trunk today. What I seem to still need is a handle to operate the jack. Does the lug wrench also act as a jack handle for operating the jack?

Yes. The operating nut for the jack is the same size as the socket on the end of the wrench.

For my car, I also keep an 18" breaker bar with a deep 6-face impact socket for the lug nets. Gives me that much more leverage if needed when the time comes. Also keeps the socket where I know it is when it's time for for winter tire swaps in the fall and spring. It aso lets me know if the covers on the nuts have started to swell to the point where the socket no longer fits (damn Ford two-piece nuts), I can then upsize the socket so that I always have the right size in the car.

EDIT: Actually, it's an 18" breaker bar, not a 12". It fits nicely under the bottom edge of the spare across the width of the base of the well.

I’m thinking about doing that as well. 150ft lbs is pretty tough to deal with.
