Just a quick update. Looks like I'm eating crow on this one.

I got a call and a voice mail from James about 3 hours after I initially had spoken to him on the 14th. He stated that Will was well aware and that I would be taken care off. I called back the next day, the 15th and spoke to Andrew...he confirmed what information James had left on the 14th stating my account has already been noted that I will be getting a replacement. He also provided me with a prepaid UPS label along with an RMA#. Today is my only day off and will be removing and packing up the diffuser tomorrow to go out first thing on Monday. Andrew also stated a replacement will be sent as soon as the old one is inbound and confirmed via tracking. He also reiterated his apologies that we here in the forums have been kinda in the dark and that it wasn't intentional. Will is a busy man but the man did come through even if I had to call and get things going. I am going to have to wait until the first warm day next year to install the new diffuser...too cold and crappy for now.

Best suggestion to the folks having issues...as already been suggested by a few...call AM and they will fix you right up...either a refund or replacement. Unless something goes wrong going forward, consider my situation resolved for now.

Diffuser has been on the car for a week and has not left the garage since install. The diffuser is already beginning to separate from the rear bumper.

Tape is one issue... I can always retape with super strength black before installation. How's the original stress points looking? Any known issues with cracking/splitting on the new ones?

That grey tape has got to go...MMD needs to use better automotive tape. And while removing my diffuser for a return, it came off easily because it looks like the adhesive tape was barely holding on to the part. (installed in August) Tape was also beginning to fall apart, my usual method of removing the leftover tape using a microfiber & WD40 was a no go. I had to scrape the residue off using the wide end of one of my panel removal tools along with WD40 to prevent damage to the paint. It was to say the least, a PITA.

Dammit. I had hopes for this.
Yep...I'm out too... :tsk:

Sent back my gen 1 diffuser this morning via UPS. Called AM back as soon as I got home and cancelled the replacement shipment. I should be getting my PP credit in 7 to 10 days.

i ended up order one of the so called (new remade 2 gen) ones. i never had the first one. ive seen alot of you guys have the same issue with the rear diffuser. so, when i received mine. ive took a good look at it and i can tell how flimsy it is and once i installed it i see what you guys are talking about (air pocket). i really did not feel like this is going to hold up on the high way. maybe just rolling around the city. i know if you buying something like this you should not need to jimmy anything or at lease come with extra mounts. but, it is what it is. so i ended up reinforcing the rear diffuser with same extra mount i have made.

mounts i've made with pvc and (black) 3m tape

bolt and nut instead of the push pins. also, i took off the cheap grey 3m tape on the rear diffuser and put on (black)3m tape

i went with 3 different mounts

its alot more sturdy... i have actually gave it a test run, hit about 100mph and it held up pretty nice.

It just sucks to pay 200 bucks for something that you'll have to mod and make better.

I purchased the mmd fins and two other mods for $192 on Christmas day... I can trust them to hold up without being sheered from the car. I shall keep the other $8 and by myself a beer for lack of stress that overcomes me next time I floor it for more than 5 seconds at a time not worrying about losing a piece of the car

You still have a large pocket of air being gathered into the diffuser area...it's the opposite of a performance part, and acts as a parachute.
