NochesStupid question but what is a Mexican night?
lifetime should be a bit better on the nittos compared to the mickeys, but the trade off is they arent as sticky (not significantly in my experience). I'm running the 555r2 in a 305/45r17 but had to pressure down to around 18-20 on the street to not bake the tires from a 2nd/3rd gear roll (were at 25). at the track I had no spinning issues. I got the set about 120 less than the Mickeys so was willing to try them out.Currently I'm running 305/35r19 nitto555g2 and can't hook well in first...
Sounds like the nitto r2 will be worth a shot. . Or should I just go for mickey thompson?
How's the lifetime on either of those?
That was not my only reference. I have had first hand driving comparisons with Nittos. I do not care for them.He was also going too fast for the conditions. Maybe had less than 25% tread remaining as well. Can’t say a tire sucks based on one blokes mistakes driving in shitty conditions.
As someone who ran Michelin's on his M3 for 15 years and decided to give 555G2's a try on his Mach 1, i can tell you I can't wait to wear out the Nittos and go back to Michelins. Cornering is awful with the 555G2s - they feel like they are going to roll over on themselves and they don't give nearly the feedback my 4s do.555R2 will grip more but will also be spongier more boaty when turning. The Nitto is a drag radial. The Michelin is a max dry/summer tire.
If you don't care (or care less) how the car handles, the Nitto will definitely hook better.
Michelin all the wayI've read a lot of threads and getting mix answers. I have a 2020 Mustang GT 10r80, pp1, e85 only with 10k miles. Still has a lot of life on the PS4s. 40 roll 2nd to 3rd it would fish tail hard. I read on forums that the ps4s performs really good, but to my experience it's not gripping at all in this 80 degree weather when the 10r80 shift from 2nd to 3rd (WOT). I'm guessing tire should be warm enough after driving 20 minutes. I do not daily this car. It's a weekend car and mexico nights. Is the nitto 555r2 going to have the same issue or will it grip?
edit: i will not take the car for spirit driving on corners. If anything with corners i will be going speed limit or slower.
Update @ 8/10/22 1:16PM. A youtuber mustang gt e85/header with 275/40/19 nitto 555r2 on his stock black accent wheels confirm it works "great" from roll. I assume that answer means it wont' fish tail like the PS4S i have on atm.
I don't see many quarter mile or 0-60 times with people using michellins... usually its MTs..... just an observationMichelin all the way
In my experience, I would NOT drive the Nittos in the rain. Any level of tread wear was like driving on ice when raining.I've read a lot of threads and getting mix answers. go for the 555 G2 in front and R2 in rear.... I went 555 G2 all around and am regretting it ...I've got this same dilemma. Now add to the fact that I'm looking at a SC.
I'm using the Nitto NT555 G2 (305/35R19) right now but have a quote for the R2 in the same dimensions. About to pull this trigger this weekend.

305 should hook fine from what I've read in forumsI've got this same dilemma. Now add to the fact that I'm looking at a SC.

I did the same. But I've learned from the lessons of driving the car for a year. Ordering the R2 for the rears this weekend.go for the 555 G2 in front and R2 in rear.... I went 555 G2 all around and am regretting it ...
finally got a working dragy and my times are god awful.... still playing with tire pressures, feathering the launch etc... also cleaning up throttle body, intake filter and checking spark plugs.....
but having FUN
I have read the same. It's a good place to start. Rather get 2 R2s for the rear instead of 4 Michelins that may or may not even fit my Steeda rims.305 should hook fine from what I've read in forums
