I don't have one so no help on the shifter. But if your getting locked out at high rpm you may also want to replace your clutch line.

I must of gotten a Wednesday gear box. Mine shifts perfect and I can power shift every gear perfectly. Granted, I did change out the fluid but even before that I never really had an issue besides the standard clunk and occasional notchiness when cold.

My trans is real quiet , no strange sounds at all .. But the shifter is a wet noodle ..My Corolla has a better shifter ... I call it a guess a gear shifter because you never know where it's going ..

Wow. I don't have any issues at all and it was the one thing I was weary about with this car as the older ones weren't great to say the least. Seems that QA at Ford really looked this one over as I bought it off the show room floor in Dec and I haven't had any issues that I have seen plague this forum. My Si was horrendous, couldn't take it remotely near redline without 2nd gear grinding/locking out if I shifted to quickly.

It's a worthy upgrade for sure. All and I mean all vagueness is gone from the slushbox. Do it!

Yes. The linkage design on the stock shifter sucks. I could rant and rant and rant about this all day long. It sucks. The MGW bolts right on to the tranny, flexes with the drivetrain (as it should be) and fixes the shitty shifts. You'll be able to hit 3rd gear every singe time, even at 7K.

Mine is smooth as butter at 7800. I never wanted to spend $500 on a shifter but it really is a very good upgrade. Have not missed a gear yet.

Try the Steeda trans bushing first.

+1 on steeda bushing. I didn't have problems with 3rd gear, but it did firm up shifts overall. Has a great feel now, and helped with the thud.
