So I'm gonna tell you a joke. It's a kind of funny joke, and is meant to expose the ridiculousness of this thread. But ya kinda have to be smart enough to understand it, or you will be offended because you are dumb, or worse, you have no sense of humor. So, the joke goes something like this...

Is that better :)

So the OP wasn't being sarcastic? I didn't see the "/s on" which is the universal shorthand for redditors that sarcasm is being employed. But, I get it. Only about 20 percent of you will. And only half of those may find it humorous. That's what makes it funny...and sad.
OK, so that's better. Now we have a read on you. You're gonna fit right in. :like: :fistbump:

PS. didn't know about that Reddit thing. Thanks.

Just be glad that you still have the access to either one.
It's all good. Get what You want. Not what somebody else tells you to get. Put You first and go for it and be happy!

The title of the thread refers to a video attached to the OP. No one is calling the drivers of manual transmission losers.

Unless they are on a drag strip.

We all know semi-automatic is faster than bolt action rifles. Many of us drive manual because they're fun, have more control in torque and be more reserved drivers -- not wanting to be reckless drivers with fast automatic.

Interesting analogy.

Semi-auto is faster than lever-action as well. But if you grew up watching TV westerns, even a good semi-auto doesn't have the . . . dare I call it "soul" - of a smooth running levergun.

You know, the throttle works the same on the automatics, right :giggle:
Sort of, anyway.

In AT applications it can make things happen in a powertrain component other than the engine.

I have the A10 and it's a great transmission.
It's no DCT like the new GT500 cars have and not even in the same league as the PDK.
But, I do miss the M6 once in a while.

It's certainly not in the same league as the PDK for cost... over $20k to replace and they don't repair them. That's why I sold my Porsche. The A10 is not quite in the same class, but the peace of mind is far greater.

I own both a semi-auto, and a lever gun (as well as a pump shotgun). The "character" of a gun, much like a car, has nothing to do with any individual component. Lever-guns and cowboy revolvers are cool, but I dare you to tell me a 1911, or an AK don't have a "soul".
I have to agree, both of those have stood the test of time even though they still have a slightly different 'character' from the older guns. Like the AK, the mini-14's resemblance to WWII's M1 carbine buys it some image improvement over more than a few other semi-auto rifles. I got my 1911 in 9mm, in large part because I'm well past the point of having to deal with more recoil than necessary (I don't have a bulky body type).

AR's, on the other hand, I would call soulless. Even bolt-action converted AR's. They're a "shooting appliance" in the same way a CUV is a "transportation appliance".
I'd put Glocks in that same "shooting appliance" category.

I will give you that much Norm, I do miss being able to pull the throttle cable on a new/newish car while I'm under the hood. The difference being that I recognize the feeling is driven by nostalgia, not by one system or the other being "better". You like to say that just because something is new, it doesn't mean it is better. The converse is just as true; just because something is old, doesn't mean it's the best, and can never be improved upon.
Agreed here as well. Whether old or new, whatever it is needs to at least be able to stand on its own merits. The new does have to demonstrate that is in fact better, and not just "newer". About here - defining "better" - is where personal preferences start sneaking in.
