Nothing. Go right ahead. Slow is better???
Something about shifting gears. I’m old and likely wouldn’t track the car and risk damaging it.

There’s no reason to buy a 500 and yank the dct. Just boost the 350. They’re amazing with an fi setup. Great for straight line and having fun, big time handfull on a track. Thst said the 500 and the dct are an engineering master piece.
I’ll live with it for a while and maybe I’ll become a convert.

I’m ready to by a ‘21 GT500 but the DCT is my hang up.
I get it, but I wouldn’t do the trans swap. I have the only dual clutch transmission that surpasses the one Ford put in the GT500 with the exception of F1. The PDK is a German masterpiece… but it can get a bit boring for normal street driving as compared to a manual. I would not entertain switching transmissions to a manual in the Cayman since I have the GT350 and the cost to swap is silly.
I ordered the Cayman with the PDK and I think it makes driving the manual a little bit more appreciated. The PDK is phenomenal just like Fords DCT… both have their nitch, and should be enjoyed for what they offer.

I'd say give the DCT a shot and at least drive one. I've driven manuals for over 30 years, and I don't miss it...like at all. Manual mode is literally just a manual in behavior, without a clutch pedal, that shifts 5 times faster than you ever could.

I really miss my fi’d 350. It was 750 at the wheels. It would pull my 500 from a roll, but ya had to know how to drive. The 500 truly is amazing. I thought I’d get bored with it, was told I would, far from being the case. Drive one and see what you think if you can. Great way to spend a few hours even if you walk away not liking it.

It’s good to hear feedback from owners. I’ve never purchased a car this expensive so I’m nervous about it. I look online at many makes but keep coming back to the GT500.

I don’t think the PDK surpasses the DCT in any way. In fact I think the Ford electronics are better in terms of gear selection. Mechanically they are very similar in design. Nothing about the PDK stands out in terms of design philosophy. I would also add it seems like the paddle shift is more responsive in the GT500. Both great transmissions.

if you want a factory high hp manual get you an KR or supersnake... all the parts are beefed up to handle the power and you can shift yourself. Unless you get the older GT500...

Supersnakes are just Mustang GTs, and the parts are definitely not "beefed up" to handle the power lol. They're just standard Coyotes with a whipple slapped on, I don't think they even beef the MT-82 up in any way....maybe a short throw.

I like to disassemble things.
I look forward to this conversion, the monies spent, the monies lost, and the decreased performance. I love the sound of gears grinding from a shift that wasn't allowed to happen. Please tell me you are using a T5 transmission as it should definitely make for a short YouTube video of the first run down the street.

The price tag is prohibitive. I’ll likely live with the DCT.

Pull and sell the DCT, purchase an FRPP Control Pack (tweaking PATS so it'll not result in a no-start condition), install your favorite weak kneed/non-high rpm shiftable transmission, and you are well on your way to enjoying decreased performance and vehicle value!

Eric, are you willing to divulge what your research says the price tag would be?
HPJ in Illinois has converted a handful, last time I spoke to one of the owners. He quoted me around 30K.

You could consider a manual Mach 1 and add a Whipple.
