The base car is the only one with the light front springs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. The base is the only one without heavy duty front springs in the order forms.

The rear sway bar link difference is pretty minor on the R. How would stiffer front springs on an R reduce understeer compared to a track pack if the R was the only one with the stiffer springs?

Should be able to look up the part number somewhere?

I think they are referring to 194 and 240 springs as "heavy duty" - just the R is stiffer. ;)

Then why don't they list the base GT350 spring rate?

I believe the base, track and tech all have the 194lb/in front springs.

It's very unclear to me as well, despite what is published. Will need to wait and see if there are 3 seperate PNs for the springs.

Also will be interesting to see if Ford Performance offers specialty springs later on

If you go to the Ford parts website, they seem to have a separate listing for the "monotube" GT350 front spring, and then two more for the Magneride front springs. I have a hard time deciphering the part numbers, but there are three different prices so I suspect there are three different front springs.

It amazes me how much you guys doubt someone when they post accurate information. If you doubt what's posted then why don't you do your own research to see if you can find or verify the information? Me and a few others already stated the 194 and 240 spring rates. Did it sound like we were unsure of ourselves? How about looking at page 8 of the GT350 supplement and report back. :headbonk:

The documentation is/can be misleading, or is just plain inaccurate.

The only common thread is the ordering guides and Ford's "Build and Configure" only list heavy duty springs as part of the Tech and Track Packages, not the base.

The early literature to the Ford dealers showed the "R" contained "All Track Package Content" plus... and did not list different springs.

I guess I don't really care personally. I will take my track pack to the local road course and the truth about its handling limits will become apparent.

If there are three front spring rates, that would be ok. If the track pack and R have the same front spring rate, then the only real OEM tuning possibility (to reduce understeer) are the shorter R arms for the tubular rear sway bar. Also, could run R sized wheel/tires widths on the front. There are some cloned 11" non-R GT350 wheels out on the market made for the rear of a production Mustang. They are even advertised as being lighter. If the backspacings are ok, then maybe I run a square set up with 305/30||35/19s.

I'm pretty sure the Magnaride is not going to freak out if I run a lighter wheel/tire package on a track pack calibration. It should just act like a stiffer shock as it will control the un-sprung weight easier. It's still just a damper, there are no active ride-hydraulics going on here.

I just have to wait for a few more weeks, months, years for my car to arrive...

Google GT350 owners supplement and then tell me it's inaccurate. BTW I already stated I talked to a Ford VDE about this and it wasn't at Track Tour. ;) But I guess that's not good enough...

Yes, but what is HD springs? This says the 240lb springs are only on the R.

Clearly, we have conflicting info.

Just a question, to better understand how people interpret the suspension packaging: Wouldn't you consider a suspension "active" if the shock on the right-front wheel sensed a pothole and sent a signal through the system to cause the right-rear shock to stiffen to better handle the pothole?

I just meant there is no spring rate changes, no ride height changes, it's not a McClaren.

I have the supplement, it can still be interpreted another way. You think their tech writers are infallible?

But, yes if a Ford engineer told you this, you could be correct.

Stiffer front springs with no change in the rear always made me wonder...

I could make a really good living being a proofreader for Ford (or any other manufacturer). :headbang:
