Rumor has it that this car was supposed to be a Boss and was changed to appease us little folks who hated on the Mach-E. Hopefully that means a Boss S650.

Honestly, that’s super believable. I just think it’s dumb that people are so mad they called it “Mach 1” instead of “Boss 302”... like regardless of what it’s called, it’s still an excellent car

Just a shame you can't have engine options now like you had back in 1969.
I would like to have got my hands on a 69 Mach 1 with a 351 or 390 when graduated HS. Be kinda nice to have the option of ordering the 5.2 in a Mach 1; not that I would, but I'm sure others would.

Absolutely.

Optional engines? What a concept!

Can you imagine the bitching for that?

"Boss 302? But it's 307 cubic inches!!!!"

Lmao honestly, that’s part of why I’m glad they made this a Mach 1... that, and I think the old hockey stick stripes would look absolutely ridiculous on an S550 🤷

Since the Mach 1 uses the GT350 intake manifold, would you need to get a cold air intake that fits the GT350?

It comes with the same CAI that the Bullitt did...

It can't be called Boss 302 when the displacement is 307 cu :sunglasses:
Though it's funny that the Technical Specifications file says 302 cu. in. for 5038 cc.
For GT500's 5163 cc it's correct 315 cu. in. Maybe they don't want to give up the 302 number, haha.
Also interesting that the difference between 5.2 and 5.0 is actually just 0.125 l.

Edit: Owner's manual says correctly Displacement: 307 inÂł (5,038 cmÂł)

I still have mine brother. 1970 Mach 1 with a 351 C and 4 speed top loader. Wish the new one had the 5.2 as well.

the Bullit, and now the Mach 1, has always seemed to me to be the coyote engine with what is fundamentally the Ford Power Pack 3, installed at the factory
