So I was out last night for a usual Taco run and ran across a dude on a crochrocket that wanted to play a little.
I was in paddle shifting mode, sport +.
We were next to each other at a roll and I hit it at about 5k rpm's . went through a couple gears and I think I may of redlined so the car shut gas and pulled back power and that was that. We did it again and this time I was paying better attention, the car pulled power in the 6k range. I'm like, that's weird. Car was running fine.
Since I was concerned I extended my trip on the highway for a little testing and couple minutes latter did another pull all the way up to 7k without issue.
Temp was 85 and humid.
Do you think the engine or trans was still hot and protecting itself and thats why my redline was moved down?

So did the Taco Bell get cold? I’m sorry, I just had to go there. :giggle:

We all know that excessive heat of course hurts but I am not familiar with what humidity does. It gets hot out here in Cali but never humid really and I’ve never had that problem. The red line might’ve been some kind of protection but not at 6K. Hopefully you figure it out.

Haha, the tacos never get cold on my watch!
I guess I’ll keep an eye on it. 16 months , 11k miles and never had this issue .

Did you bounce it off the limiter? How much gas and what type?

The rev limiter is set too low for the Mach 1 imo. We need to be at 7800 at least. Call it 8200 just so we don't even hit the limiter. That will take advantage of the GT350 manifold.

I agree, this thing doesn’t lose any power all the way to 7200
My 15gt with CAI and tune fell on its face at 6500

Did you ever figure out the issue, mines doing it as well. Been breaking it in pretty much per the manual. I’m at 800 miles and wanted to hit 6K rpm and it cuts out. In normal & sport+, no other systems changed. I do have my gauge set at 4K rpm for break in. 🤷🏻‍♂️
No idea other than it was hot out and I redlined it so it went into protection mode? I’ve had it up to 7000 since with no issues.
Was it hot and were you beating on it?

These cars cut power for all sorts of annoying reasons. Wheel spin, knock, catalyst temperature, etc. Spin the wheel and take your pick. My car pretty much always stops giving me power in 1st after like 6500 for whatever reason.

Im no tech but geez I’d get that looked at. There’s a whole lot of fun that lives in the last 1000 rpm.

I don't think anything is wrong, some other people on here have observed the same thing with manual cars. My car made pretty normal numbers on the dyno as well. No other gear besides 1st does it either. Personally I think it's just some torque table/clutch protection limitation kicking in.

Well heck just something else I need to worry about with my new 2022 GT 6MT I guess. I only have around 500 miles so I haven’t hammered it but I was pretty sure I’d seen over 7000 in first and still pulling. I won’t be able to check it out again for a while due to recuperation from major surgery.

I‘m not checking all old posts but seems like it’s been a Mach 1 thing. Could it just be an artifact of the M1 tune?

EDITED TO ADD:
I wonder if my experience in not observing this problem has anything to do with the fact that I roll 100% of the time in track mode? Just thinking out loud…
