I was not offended, just wasn't smart enough to know if you were for Alex and Lund or against.

Personally I want to thank Lund. Long before the YT asshat, Lund Sr had that roll. Due to his arrogance and vulgar personality I decided to learn how to tune Ford's myself.
After watching that particular section over for the 2nd or 3rd time, I did have the thought "guess I'll be following tdstuart's lead when i get to that point!". Then you said this... lol

If you truly know how to tune, you charge a premium and tune it.

IMHO of course.
When you get a customer that you know you'll never be able to please, the best thing to do is to tell them to go someplace else. I've fired a lot of customers. These are the folks that want something stupid, will bitch when they get what they wanted and then bad-mouth you for doing what they asked. They generally slow-pay to boot.

Jettison the ballast and move on.

I agree but there is also a way to do it. I don’t think saying someone rode to school on the short bus :) when jettisoning a client is appropriate either.

There’s a lot that can be learned in that thread with some very knowledgeable people posting and helping sans insults.

Same with the P-51 intake.. first Alex said it works fine. Then when the dude quoted what Alex said on his website.. Alex goes off on a tangent about how he needs to get paid to endorse. Then shit all over the P-51. He hates everything that's not a sponsor of his show. Including FORE.

But LUND pushes the FORE brand. I'm NOT dissing FORE in anyway mind you.

Wait so this is all about an intake that's been successfully tuned countless times in other cars, but because it's not as convenient or easy as dragging/dropping previous tunes, they don't want to tune a car with it?

What am I missing here, because it seems like everyone is equivocating that the customer asked for something unreasonable.

I have ZERO problem if someone like Lund says "yeah, there's a bunch of other tuners who will help you out, we like this other intake because it's easier for us and we're not really setup to provide truly custom stuff. Rather than try to convince you to build your car the way that makes it easier for us, we simply recommend you call another shop that's better setup to tune the car as you've decided to build it."

Instead of trying to push customers into components that either make their job easier, or even worse, that they get a kickback on (we all know there's parts and components that Lund gets for free from vendors who are thankful that they push their products), maybe they should just openly state "we don't tune anyone who doesn't run what we prefer."

I'm old enough to remember the blower wars when Kenne Bell was top dawg and Whipple was trying to come onto the scene and there were tuners who refused to tune cars with one or the other (you had tuners who refused to tune Whipple cars because they had a relationship with KB and then you had the "open shop" tuners who would tune anyone's car, regardless of blower choice).

You can't call yourself a custom tuner if you refuse to tune people when they don't run the mods you like or prefer.

Again, for cookie cutter stuff, Lund is great (till they're not).

Anything truly custom or on the edge of the industry, find someone else.

I thought Kenne was gonna win that war. Then Whipple silently gave everyone a left hook. And here they are.

I'm not sure which fenderwell intake the vid is referring to. The P51 is easy to tune because the MAF is in the stock position, or at least the one I saw is. The PMAS fenderwell CAI puts the MAF in a strange position and can cause problems from turbulence.

PMAS does give a MAF table to the purchaser.

@Angrey Customer asked for a tune revision for the new intake. The tuner told him
1) your current intake can support 1000whp, no need to change it.
2) if you still want to swap intake, its gonna be $150 for 6mo of tuning/revisions because your 6mo window expired.

The customer said "wHaT kInd of CuSToMEr SERvicE Is THat? YOu GuYS SuckS!

@beefcake
They did up to a point. And it's not like people aren't on here complaining about Juggernaut...

I'm sure there's more to the story

Besides there are a plenty of other fast cars that they tune (and have tuned over the last 10+ years) other than that one

The point is, to say they can't tune anything except "cookie cutters" is stupid
