Is the low fuel indicator on my GT Premium the "fuel" icon in my speedometer just above the fuel guage? The manual makes it seem that this icon will light when I get to 1/16 of a tank left. I usually depend on my info center that tells me "miles to empty". If this is the low fuel indicator and if it is supposed to light up, mine never has. When I refueled, I had 2 gallons in the tank. If it's waiting for the fuel to get lower, that crazy.

But I'd like to know where the "low fuel" light is.. maybe mine isn't working..

You have a 16 gallon tank. If it lights up when you get to 1/16th of a tank left, then you'd need to get down to less than 1 gallon in the tank before the low fuel light lights up.

What's the problem?

I don't know how much I trust the low fuel indicator on this car. It doesn't seem to be as accurate as it was on my '12 GT.

I get a "Fuel is Low" display on my center display when the Distance to Empty hits about 40 miles (actually, it is almost always at 38 miles, but I don't know what that is based on). I have to dismiss this notification with the left-side OK button on the steering wheel. At the same time, the little orange "gas pump" light on above the fuel gauge will light up.

The warning appears every time I start the engine until I fill up again.

all that little fuel icon does is point to the side of the car that the fuel filler is on.

You'll get a notification in the information panel when you're low on fuel. My '13 came on at 50 miles until empty. My new 'stang comes on at 20 miles until empty - there's got to be a configurator somewhere to set the warning threshold. I'll start looking :D

The low fuel indicator is based on a level in the tank. The miles to empty when it comes on is going to vary depending on the mileage you have been getting on that tank of gas. Higher MPG's will give a higher miles to.empty when the light comes on.

So the consensus here is that there isn't a "Low Fuel" indicator rather a message in the center information center. I had 35 miles to empty on my "Trip 1" display, and no message. I was told today that he thought it had two trigger points... the first at 50 MTE and again at 25 MTE. But he was basing that on other Ford models (not the Mustang). I know for sure that I have no indication at 50 MTE! I don't wait for it to get to 25 MTE. I have not found any way to configure this function.

What's the problem? Nobody seems to really know about this function, including the dealers. Your reply is a tad confusing.. First, our GT's have a 15 or 15.5 gallon tanks. That aside, you say if it "lights" (what light) up when I get to a 1/16th of a tank, then I'd need to get down to less than 1 gallon in the tank before the low fuel light lights up".

So which is it? 1/16 of a tank or 1 gallon of a tank to make the low fuel "indicator" come on? If it waits for 1 gallon of fuel left, that's ridiculous. One gallon of fuel in a swaying tank would not give an even fuel flow to the motor. My previous vehicle had the low fuel indicator come on with 1/8th of a tank. Gave me plenty of time to find a gas station,

Do we really need to rely on a computer to tell us when we need fuel? Good lord...

Just today I pulled into the gas station with 3 km on my distance to empty and I put 59.2 litres of gas into my 60-litre tank. I could have gone a little farther.:headbang:

BTW the low fuel light in this car comes on at somewhat random intervals as I approach E (I'm guessing depending on my recent fuel economy history) whereas my '13 GT alerted me religiously at 80, 40, 20, and 10 km to empty.

Gee, keep in mind the fuel pump is in the tank and depends on gasoline to keep the pump and its motor cool. Don't make it a habit of running below a 1/4 tank or you may develop premature pump failure esp. during warm weather conditions.

I've been told that running the fuel down very low is hard on the fuel pump, so it's better to fill up - say when there is 1/4 of a tank left... has anyone else heard this?
