Long Tube Header Install 1st time rookie

Hey yall going to be installing my long tube headers on my 19’ PP1 10r80 5.0 been watching videos looks difficult any tips or tricks before doing this myself ? I’m not a mechanic by any chance just a guy not wanting to pay 1000+ to a shop for the install a fellow DIY’er (I don’t have a lift going to use jackstands)

I've done this twice, both times on jack stands. The gen 3 engine (18-23) has a plastic oil pan so you will need this https://www.harborfreight.com/1000-lb-capacity-engine-support-bar-96524.html to support the engine from above, also get yourself a stretch belt tool to remove and reinstall the belt on the A/C compressor. Then you can unbolt the comp and lay it out of the way so you can get the new header in with out removing the studs, otherwise you have to pull 6 of the 8 studs on the passenger side and it's a nightmare to get the studs back in after you put the header in place.

Make sure you have some bolts to replace some of the studs. Good luck. It's a bitch.

Do you not have to unbolt the steering column on the 18+? I remember that being the biggest pita on the 15-17’s.

When it comes to taking the AC comp. Off would I have to take off any ac lines connected to it or is it just to give me enough room to take off/ put on a bolt

Just pop off the belt and unbolt the comp so you have room to get the header in, DO NOT open the lines, then you have to have the system recharged.

I don’t have a lift either and usually do all my own work…

I paid the 1,000 and had them professionally installed… feel like a genius.
Highly recommend paying a shop 10/10 would recommend!

Snap on mid depth 15mm swivel and cut the studs. dont use bolts.

Some of the worst time I ever spent working on this car was doing those headers. It ABSOLUTELY sucked.

I am pretty handy with a wrench, and I paid to have mine done. Mechanic (friend that does Coyote headers several times a week), he picked it up at 8 am and had it back to me by 6 pm that night. Best money I ever spent.
