Yep, 15 minutes seems to be around the point where users are seeing issues. 20 minutes is likely more for novices who might do 1-2 days a year. Looks like the guys hitting the limit earlier are more seasoned and thus pushing the car harder
Mattlqx reported it happening after 5 laps with low 2 minute laps. So around 11 minutes. This was around 80 degrees but still cooler than it will be when most guys start tracking these things.

5 laps plus a warm up out lap I imagine, but if he was pushing those times then he is no novice, so see my above reply regarding that.

Not really a misrepresentation when the manual advises to add coolers if you plan track the car.
This makes no sense whatsoever.

The gt350 is marketed as a track focused car, but it can only compete a single 15-20 min track session if optioned with the track package. And that's not a misrepresentation because the manual that you receive after purchase stated so?

So another continginsey is that only novice drivers can complete a single HPDE session?

Should not have any issues tracking the car if you opted with the track package. We are talking about the base and tech package cars. Lets see, you are buying a car, you intend to track it, are given an option between a track pack and a tech pack. You dont elect the track pack and then run into issues that are explicitly stated in the manual when you take it to the track. Am I missing something here? How is that at all a misrepresentation when ford gives you the option for track use and you elect not to take it?

And lets stop being koy about it, most folks who are on the forums and planned to track the car, read the manual many many months ago when it was first released, and took a gamble going with the tech pack anyway.

And yes, novices will likely last longer out there, pretty simple concept if you think about it.

I get it, you are obviously miffed because you likely convinced yourself the car would be fine on the track and are now finding out otherwise. Dont worry, im sure the aftermarket will come up with something to mitigate the issue

It had to be trans temp that did it. 230 oil temp is nothing to worry about on track at all, especially with a 5-50 oil in it.

Maybe I just did a lot more reading before I ordered my car but EVERY single thing I had seen about this car said you needed a track pack on the base cars if you were going to do HPDE's with it or a R model.

It says it in the owners manual...not the package you get after the car, but the one that comes with it.

Also the pre-release brochures said it too.

I don't work for Ford, nor have any ties to them...but I don't think they could tell you any more times on what to do if you track the car.

Should they all have the coolers..yeah probably but they don't and they tell you that.

You know what they say...you can lead a horse to water....

I ordered a track pack so I don't give a shit, but seriously for any car that's marketed as a track car should come standard with the minimum equipment necessary to complete a HPDE on a summer day.

This problem isn't unique to Ford, so don't get me wrong. It was just an observation ;)

I did plenty of reading and posting on the subject and I didn't see anywhere or anyone state that you NEEDED a track pack to complete a single 15 minute session. Before you refer to the manual... Again... Stating we recommend adding aftermarket coolers for sustained track use is not the same as "track pack or R required for track use" which is what it should say... Or "transmission and diff coolers required for track use one base or tech pack".

For what it's worth I opted for tech pack because I wanted sync3 and planed on adding all the track pack parts. It wasn't till after my car was already built that I was able to verify through Ford Performance that the transmission was actually different.

They built a "track pack" option for the guys who would track their car. A small fraction of people actually track their car. They made a tech pack for guys who intended to use the car for spirited street driving, which most people buying the car intend to do. Ford was pretty candid and up front about the different packages and what their intended use should be. The magazine write ups said the same thing. Ford also did a track tour that was highly publicized, and there wasn't a tech pack or base car out there.

This car is unique in it's powerplant design and it revs to the moon. This is great for the track, but it is also the recipe for a lot of driveline heat. Aggressive street driving can never come close to replicating the extremes a car sees on track. Countermeasures were put in place via a track pack for those who intended to track the car. Ford has said this from the outset, and I believed them. For that reason I ordered a track pack because I knew I would track my car. Maybe it's me but I don't see the disconnect.

For most of us, we want a tech car that we can take to a track. There should be an ability to check both boxes. Maybe 2017?

I had problems with my car having a rough idle and shutting off on me after two track days.

But in my case I think its an ignition issue. I have a track pack.

So, maybe this has been covered somewhere else, but have any of the guys who have gone into limp mode experienced it on spirited back road drives?
