Let's settle this black wheel thing

I've seen enough of these black wheels and the discussion back and forth. Where does everyone stand? If you vote in the poll you'll be forced to choose, no fence sitting! I'm on record that they're hideous. Looks like two black holes where the silver wheels should be. Or looks like painted black wheels on old cop car.

Love the black wheels - absolute race look.

They have to be satin, not gloss and even better a dark charcoal.

I could go either way. I'm sure I'll get the Performance Package with the black wheels and I will likely live with them but they aren't my favorite. I don't hate them though.


On classic cars I like the blacked out look, but on modern cars with big wheels painting them black just makes them disappear. Black wheels looks like no wheels and I don't really like that.


On my '67 they look pretty good IMO.

I like black wheels, but it has to be on the right car/color paint. I dislike that they basically disappear on some cars and they blend in with the tires. But, they can add great contrast. If done right, I love them. That being said, I don't own anything with black wheels.

Hate solid black wheels. They make any car look cheap, IMO. Now black center with a polished lip can look good, but solid black looks like somebody just sprayed their wheels with a rattle can.

I don't car foe solid black except for a limited few car/color applications. A chrome lip or colored stripe around the lip make black wheels better.

Sure, get the black wheels. Express your individuality. Then you can look just like everyone else.

Black wheels are ugly as sin. I dislike them more than a little bit.

I like the 19" black wheels, but am curious to what the 20" premium ones would look like painted black or charcoal

I typically dislike them as I feel that they generally make the wheels 'disappear' visually.

They do often remind me of cars with missing hubcaps like the cop car above. I do think having a machined lip helps, but unfortunately, the Mustang wheels won't have that.

If I get a GT, I want the PP, so I'm hoping I can get the dealer to swap out the blackout PP wheels for the SVT wheels (for a fee of course), assuming they're not black too...

Gloss black is better than satin or flat black in my book, the reflection from the gloss lets you see the wheel shape better. Flat black does remind me of the old steelies.

Wish I could get the Gloss Black PP 19 inchers on my automatic GT I'd like to order. :(

I will admit to having rarely seen black wheels out and about so my judgements may not be entirely fair. But I have a feeling they look really cool up close and in person, similar to the graphite. But from a distance they either looks like dark voids or brake dust coated rims...I do agree that in there's examples I like there is something (some color or finish other than. Black) on the wheel or tire to accentuate the wheel and make it more noticeable.
