I would have to agree that the black wheels look best there ^^ Tony

As someone else pointed out for me it really depends on how the car is photographed and what kind of lighting.

For example this,

Same car taken at same event (Knott's Farm) in different lighting, the PP wheels just disappear and theres TOO much contrast between the silver and the black.

So yea when you can see it the gloss black PP wheels look great imo, but I hate how they disappear so easily.

There has to be at least some contrast. If everything is blacked out you may as well be driving a hover car with no wheels at all.

What would look really good is a painted lip or ring around the edge of the wheel (and not those plastic aftermarket trim pieces) that was color keyed to the vehicles color. I think it would look really sharp. Or at least offer a red painted lip on the black wheels for black, silver, gray, white and red which go well together.

Is this supposed to be an argument for what he said? Because, as a geek, it's certainly convincing me for it... :D

Yep, you'll notice the difference is that in the photo where the wheels look 'better' it's because that side of the car is facing directly into the sun. On the picture where you say they 'disappear' the side of the car is not facing the sun.

Obviously the sun can only shine directly on one part of the car at any given time, which means more often than not, the second picture is what you're going to see. And of course, let's not even get into nighttime lighting.

Now I will grant that even a good camera does not have near the dynamic range of the human eye, but still, I think your point overall is valid, and it's what I've personally experienced as well: generally black wheels disappear visually much more often than other colors/finishes...

If you had of asked me six months ago if I liked black rims I would have said it is played out. This car looks perfect in bright colors with dark rims....

I like hyperblack wheels the best, however....Its the best of black, gray and chrome all mixed together. If it has a polished lip, even better.
Same here. I'm thinking hyperblack may be the way to fix the PP wheels.

Just my opinion, but I think black wheels look good (non-gloss) on black cars and brightly colored cars - like white, yellow, and orange.

Outside of those exterior colors personally I'd choose a different wheel.

You're so HIP, miSTER.

I like wheels that disappear and blend in, I don't want my wheels to stand out. I want my wheels the same color as my tires.

I love black wheels, especially on colors that contrast with them (white, red, yellow...). I think dark blue, grey and black look better with brushed aluminum. Chrome wheels on almost any car make me puke. :barf:

That's why I said almost any car. Classics (especially ones with chrome trim) and high end luxury cars are exempt.

I may have exaggerated my feeling for chrome, but I dislike chrome as much as some of you hate black wheels.
