Awesome! Thank you. I’ll pass the info along to my brother.

I would love to have a 68 for myself. What do you have planned for that project, something mild or very wild?

here's a post i started a while back.....work in progress. It was my best friends 68. He bought it around 1976-77 and restored it back then. It was on the road until a few years ago. Unfortunately it was under a tarp outside and was rotting away. He gave it to my son about 3 years ago.
My son is making a tasteful Shelby clone. the stang originally had a 302 from factory but my friend installed a 1969 351W back in 77. We still have that and will refresh it for now...probably use Holley sniper system or similar. All mechanicals will be modern...obviously not a concourse build. We already have Maiers racing sub frame braces installed, 1" Shelby drop on front, Wilwood calipers for all wheels, new rear diff etc. Not sure on how much of original interior will get refreshed. It has the original top loader 4 speed. Will install all new electrical wiring harness as old one is shot.
We replaced most of the sheet metal since there was too much rust. It will be a Ford race red.
My 1st grandson is on the way so progress is a bit slow but it will get done! 😀

here's the thread....enjoy

@Bobn57, I remember that thread. The car sure has come a long way from when you guys took possession of it. I have no doubt that it’s going to be a work of art when it’s finished.

Just to put things into perspective, in the last 4 days, a concrete dap-out had to be poured in front of both garage doors and 3/4 of the pavers had to be taken up, the ground regraded and the pavers reinstalled. What a nightmare this had been and yeah, I’ve been beyond pissed about all of it for a long while. It’s been really hard to keep a cool head during all of this, but I know that’s what’s needed in order to make good progress. Notice the little bottle of Fireball. It appears that one or more of the paver guys was/were drinking on the job. I went out to check on progress while they were away at lunch and noticed the liquor bottle at the ready. SMDH

I would be super pissed if I found someone drinking on the job. I guess you want the job done and dusted, but I would have poured it down the drain in front of them.

Glad things are being remedied though, I would be really worked up in that situation.

Are you going to try again for Epoxy or try something else? Swisstrax would look awesome in that garage.

Yeah, I just wanted it done. I’ve waited for months on e d and bandaid after bandaid patch attempts.

I will let them epoxy again and if it fails, them look at installing floor tile. I agree the Swisstrax or something similar would look great out there.

First of all, I'm going to say that I'm a gardener and a detailer, so while I work with my hands, I don't do a lot of this sort of thing. But I found it child's play to install.

The hardest part will be moving everything to install the floor. I did it in sections, moving stuff onto the freshly installed tiles before moving back into place. This meant I didn't have to completely gut my garage, saving time and effort.

I also vacuumed as I went.

As for tools, you will want a marker, a set square, a tape measure and something to cut the tiles with.

IMG_0125.jpg

For the cutting, I used a compound mitre saw for most of it. You can also use a jig saw, an angle grinder, circular saw, table saw or proper tile cutter. You do need to make sure you have a fine tooth blade for the saws though, you will otherwise get a lot of kick-back and shattering. I found that for the intricate areas, a sharp utility knife was the best thing to use for accurate, clean cuts.

The bulk of the install will go very quickly, especially if you have someone handing you tiles.

The slow part is doing the cuts, which you need to pay attention during this step so you don't orientate the tiles wrong when measuring. Once you get into a rhythm, it's pretty easy though. I actually ordered enough extra tiles in case I screwed up a few cuts.

So yes, very easy to install. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to rip it up and do it again. My poor knees didn't though after all that bending up and down.

As for price, you need to look at it from all angles. Swisstraxx are very expensive in Australia, no doubt they would be more palatable in the USA where they are made. For me, it came down to being able to do the job myself in a controlled way, eliminating the need to have workmen making a mess for a week to install other alternatives (Epoxy or Polishing).

I paid $12 per tile late last year, just before they went up in price to $14 each.

Ribtrax – Flexico Storage & Floors

For those in the US, Ribtrax are $8.58 per tile.

Swisstrax Ribtrax PRO | Durable Garage Floor Tiles | Standard Colors

Being in another country, I can't comment on whether Swisstraxx are affordable, in Australia at least I would say they are a premium priced option. From my perspective, the fact I could do it myself and know that it will last a very long time and won't need re-doing when (not if) an epoxy or painted finish fails.

I pretty much did the same as DFB5.0 at both houses...the second one went super quick since I had learned a few short cuts after the first one. The first one has been down for about 10 years and is holding up great and this is in a state that gets a lot of snow. I do pressure washer it to keep it clean.

Thanks sir, I appreciate the info. I'm going forward with this project.

Started collecting plates last year and got them up in the garage. Right now, all are family plates, which is real cool.
Truck blocks it sometimes, but I can get all vehicles in the garage.
If anyone has plates kicking around, Let me know.

Had to replace the master Cylinder in the Hotrod today with lots of help from a friend. I really like how easy the Race Deck flooring was to clean up after the mess we made. Had cardboard under the car to help but we still managed to make a mess.
