If anything I think the stiffer sidewall provided more high g cornering ability. Definitely no downside that I noticed. How does the grip level compare?

Be careful . . .The difference is the load and tread depth. The 102y has 7/32 v 5/32 and carries a heavier load.

That 98 Load Index tire is rated to the SL table, while the 102 Load Index tire is an XL. The two tables do not line up like you might expect.
The short story (and a good enough approximation) is that an XL tire matches the rated load of an SL tire four numbers smaller, for inflation pressures up to 36 psi. It's only for inflation pressures beyond 36 that the XL tire continues to gain rated load capacity where the SL tire load vs inflation table stops at 36.

I haven't specifically on the R wheels, but I've run them on 19x11s. In that particular size, they super grippy balloons. Just too tall, IME. Look for the 305s. Or just use Hoosier R7sAnyone have any recent feedback on the Pirelli DH 315/705/19 slick fitments for the R on the stock CF wheels?
In practical terms, the 102s last longer, but offer a bit less grip. They also heat cycle out before they chord. For some, that won't matter.
no AR-1 yet, but I'm liking the supercar 3 so far, seem to wear really good, ran a 1:42.3 at mid ohio last weekend my first time there so i'm sure there's more time in them... will be back to my home track thursday so will have more feedback if weather is good on them.Anyone try the Nankang AR-1 yet? I’m back to looking for tires again. Tempted to do something crazy. Intrigued by the Goodyear Supercar 3 and 3R as well given the cost.
Though I might just stick with the 315/30/19 Cup2s as they’re close to the cost of RE-71R at this point.
mine is all black... i ran intermediateHi Jason. I was there on Sunday in the bright yellow Camaro NASA ST/TT4 race car. There were a few GT350’s. What color is yours?
Which size Supercar 3 are you using? Which wheel width? Do you have a picture of the tire on the wheel?no AR-1 yet, but I'm liking the supercar 3 so far, seem to wear really good, ran a 1:42.3 at mid ohio last weekend my first time there so i'm sure there's more time in them... will be back to my home track thursday so will have more feedback if weather is good on them.
So I saw a set of the 102Y’s at the track this past weekend. There’s a big difference in the tread and they definitely are not as sticky as the 98Y’s. The 102Y have a lot more grooves on the outer edge of the tires. The difference is the load and tread depth. The 102y has 7/32 v 5/32 and carries a heavier load.

Cool. I’ll be at the event at Pitt in July but Sunday only. I’ll be in the garages by the event center on the hill. Stop by if you attend the event.mine is all black... i ran intermediate
