With current finance rates and how well the GT350 will hold its value its prob easier just to take out a loan. Ford does not offer leasing on the GT350 as far as I know so you would have to go through a 3rd party.

The way they hold their value it would be better to do just that. On a zero down 72-month loan with a good interest rate, you can probably get out of the car in 2 to 3 years and at the very worst break even. This is assuming an MSRP or less deal.

tks krt22

with the high residual, it may be a very affordable route (especially for my proposed purpose of product development for the Gt350)

So I was curious if anyone had done this ( project car guys, etc.) and what the money factor was......

There is a guy in town who supposedly leased his GT350 with a local bank

They have held their value, but future models will/may effect that. I did well on my trade, however when the market changes, I don't know if that will remain true.

So far it's held true going back to at least the 07 GT500. Assuming someone purchased their car for MSRP or less they should have been able to get out of the car in two to three years without negative equity. Making it very much like a lease.

For example, let's assume a $65,000 purchase price financed for 72 months at 2.49%.

Payment $973 a month
24-month balance $44,402
36-month balance $33,712

I'm pretty sure in 36 months you could get at least $34k for a GT350 if you took good car of it and did under 12k miles a year.

thanks for the responses.

an advantage of the lease is you are financially obligated for the use fee ( $35-40k vs. $65k purchase price)

and tax advantages in the case of a development vehicle.

so am just curious about lease successes.

I'm an old fart (72) and wanted to have one last hurrah. I could have cared less how much car cost only if I could make a lease payment and give car back when lease up. My local Ford dealership got me a lease for 5 years through U S Bank on a new 2016 with sofa seats. I kept it a year and my dealership owner bought out my lease and I got me 2017 (wanted white with blue stripes and the coolers and sofa seats) and I started my payment again (went up very little) with U S Bank for another 5 years.

That varies state to state. For instance, in Maryland, you have to pay sales tax (6%) on the entire purchase price of the vehicle making leasing less attractive.

The lease residual through US Bank os not that great, and funny enough they don't have an R specific residual. The 36 mo was only 47% for 15k miles (IIRC). Compare that to a Scat Pack with shaker Charger...69%.

I looked at it as a possibility but it doesn't make sense and unfortunately Ally and Chase don't really give much help on residual and rate unless you submit a lease to them running credit. USbank ended up ~$200 more payment on my 36mo 10k mile lease vs a generic 84 mo purchase. So compared to short term it could be equal.

That is your opinion Hizibullet but there are different circumstances for different people. I'm driving a Shelby GT 350 and love having the opportunity to lease to enable me 5 years of total enjoyment!!
