Are the 15 Ecoboosts weaker than the later years OR were the tuners just learning how to tune those cars and lost a few to early mistakes. Does make you think that Ford racing is waiting till the 15's are close to being off warranty. I have a 15 Ecoboost Premium auto PP and am wondering if it does have weaker parts than the later models. Have not seen any posts on blown motors lately.

Dumb question - Does this change the horsepower output or just move the curve where it is making higher hp and tq numbers earlier/later than stock.

I believe the blown motors were only for 2015s with engines built before March 31st 2015. If you look on the front of the engine block right below the plastic engine cover there should be a white sticker with your build date.

From what they are releasing, it appears to make a slight increase over the bulk of the rpm range with a significant increase in low end torque as well as a very nice hp bump at the high end where the stock tune falls off. In other words, it stretches out the powerband considerably. Should make the car a lot more fun. Got to love a motor that pulls hard from idle to redline.

Ford PerformanceJohnny, We have an update and unfortunately, it is not what you want to hear. We discovered an issue with the delivery system for our 2.3L Mustang EcoBoost calibration files. Our team is working to address the software issue. There is no ETA at this time. You can reach out to the Techline for updates towards the end of next week. They will not have any new news until then. https://performanceparts.ford.com/contact-us/

I read a post from a tuner, Adam I believe, that stated the Spanish built engines had inconsistent rod bolt torque?, or something like that. I have not seen any evidence of actual part differences.

It does appear that Ford is dragging their ass on releasing the Tune so it does make me wonder what's going on. The Ecoboost is 2 years old and Ford Performance has nothing but excuses.

Go talk to LMS, you might really be surprised at what they have to offer, I just recently talked to a user on this forum who was having issues with another tune which I will not name, he asked me about LMS and I gave the shpeel on why I chose them over others.

After he also conversed with them he decided to give it a try and absolutely loved it and was surprised at the improvement even over what he already had previously. No I'm not paid by them, but I'm impressed by how well their PCM software works and that's why I recommend them. Their track record is stellar and long, their performance is top notch to say the least.

With Ford dragging their ass on this tune, I may just say screw it and go with an AccessPort with a custom tune from Adam.

I too recently spoke with Livernois regarding their tunes. I asked a few questions about the race gas tune which is designed for 100% MS109 not any type of blend. Basically, their mail order tune offerings end once you go beyond FBO and/or want to use ethanol blends greater than 10%. My understanding of what I was told is if your set up goes beyond what they have specifically tuned for in house (Lexi's Set-up) any additional tuning would have to be performed on the dyno at their facility.

If you're inclined to go bigger turbo or run ethanol blends, this may not be the tuning device to grow with you. If you intend to be just a FBO car, then it seems to be a legitimate option, and options are good.

What do they mean software delivery system? They told me everything was finished except this delivery system. Do they mean the ProCal device? This is ridiculous, might have to see if I can get cancel my preorder I already paid for if they keep this crap up.

"admittedly, we have had our share of difficulties in launching the 2.3L Mustang EcoBoost Power Pack. It is certainly not our intention to jerk our customers along. Our apologies for the delays. We are working through a technical delivery issue that we think will be resolved shortly. We have no intention of canceling the part. Thanks for your continued patience". (Received from FP at 2PM today)

I would say if you plan on ANY other mods to the car, I'd go with Adam. Hands down... would not be a question for me.

Plus, they are the same price, once you count in the price of the accessport for Adam's tune.

I'd like to see the numbers on this tune... I might get it for the limited warranty since I don't have any other mods. Question is do I really want to spend $700 to $800 (with install) for 15,000 miles of warranty. :)

I love my Unleashed tune...

Real question you have to ask yourself: Do I plan to mod????

If you have already installed a tune I highly doubt installing the Ford tune is going provide you any warranty assurance. Your flash counter will still be off compared to Fords records for the car.

I have almost 30k miles on my Unleashed tune. I have been thrilled with Torrie's customer service and the performance of the tune, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else.

.
Is that a Proven Fact or just a theory. My understanding, it is not the flash counter that the use, but the Ignition Counter. This is from the Ford Job Aid:

I agree with you. I've heard people talk about a flash counter but never from a credible source. I believe what they are referring to is the ignition counter "after a reflash". That is going to get reset when they install the Ford Performance tune.
