Now that my eldest has had his license for a whole two weeks, he is already asking to drive the 'stang. He is not ready for a sports car yet. I'm not sure he isn't capable of snagging a remote from me or his mom. So I want to install a kill switch. Just looking for something simple, nothing too crazy.

My dad had this kill switch fits in all of his vehicles

That only happens after. That is if he doesn't wrap it around a tree and put himself in the hospital

I leave my mustang’s keys where all my other keys are at and my kids will not take the mustang out unless they got my permission. You got to trust your kids and teach them to respect your decision.

My mustang keys are in the bedside safe with the pistol, no kid kill switch required.

Though trust is nice and all, if you're having doubts...

This'll be a good place to start. Hidden switch under the shift boot, or wherever you want to put it, that cuts the fuel pump when in the off position.

EDIT: That top comment has a (funny, and) good idea to install a decoy switch under the dash. If he gets wise. Maybe don't have to go so far as wiring it into anything, let alone the alarm, buuut... 😁

I have 2 teens. Girl and boy. They’ve both driven my car. Both are very responsible and genuine.
It really does comes down to trust I agree. BUT... However, my son is now 17 and full of piss and vinegar and testosterone and everything in between. I completely trust him. But, I also know what it’s like to be a teen and have peer pressure pushed on you. I can see a few of his friends putting a little heat on him to “go for a little spin”.
The kill switch is a great idea to thwart that maybe. I like the idea of turning off the fuel pump as well. Is this bad for the car if there’s no fuel and trying to start?

Never watched the video above... anyone do anything like this?

How much car knowledge does he have? You did say he's only had his license 2 weeks. Could your "kill switch" be as simple as pulling the battery cable? I know my brother wouldn't be able to figure that one out and he just turned 40

Fuel cut won't do any damage to the car / engine. It amounts to the starter turning the crank indefinitely without any fuel to combust. At worst, he tries it a time or five and thinks he broke something. At best, you hear the engine spinning and catch it...

If your car is a manual I've always intercepted the clutch switch and put the kill switch in line with that. It's a low current draw so no need for a heavy duty switch and easy to get at the wiring. Haven't tried it on the mustang though.

If this kill switch has been used on prior bad decisions it is now a deterrent. But no deterrent will stop a horny teenager

Explain that if you catch him stealing your car you'll beat his ass & throw him out. There's your kill switch.
