The silver trim on my key fob has partly come off, about half an inch below and to the right of the alarm button. A new fob costs $500. (It works fine). But should I be demanding a replacement fob? (I think that would mean replacing both)

Unless its a manufacture defect, then you more then likely will be paying out of pocket.

I've seen some aftermarket places selling different color ponies for that fob... they might have some in chrome you could Krazy-Glue on.

Honestly, just dremel the rest of the chrome off. It is keyless entry, no one sees they key anyway

I like to toss my keys on the table when I'm at dinner / in a meeting / wherever, so people can see the pony and know I drive a Mustang.

I use a silicon case and paracord layard, so there is really nothing that can scratch or damage the fob, my house key is in my wallet instead. Fob still looks brand new after 4 months.
