I've had:
Paxton on my 1995 331 Stroker Cobra
Vortech on my 1997 Cobra
Vortech on my 2001 Cobra
Kenne Bell on my 2003 Cobra
200 Shot NX Plate on my 2011 GT
Whipple 2.9 and 3.4 on my 2012 GT500
Vortech on my 2011 Grand Sport Corvette
Procharger D1SC on my 2015 Mustang GT

End of the day, I had a smile when driving each one.
So of all the ones that you've had, why the D1SC this time and another Whipple? Or all the blowers, why not try a Turbo?

I for one would like to know:

Which one is the most reliable SC on the long run, what is the best IC and Heat Exchanger and why the KB delivers higher torque for similar psi.
The 2015 KB system hasn't been released yet (to my knowledge), only by Boostworks, which is not KB. So we can't technically compare torque vs torque or HP vs HP at this point.

The 11-14 motors and cams made more torque then the 2015 model so they would need to be compared apples for apples so to speak. The 2015 actually makes less trq but more HP. One could change cam timing to increase torque, which effectively raises cylinder pressure. In our experience as well the super computer simulations, this created massive detonation issues in the drivable areas.

Turbos are a pain to deal with when not factory and need to be constantly babysat. Not something "I" want to deal with on a car that is not a racecar.

Yes, well aware a centri SC exhibits similar problems turbos do, but not entirely.

I actually thought about going to a whipple 2.9 on my 2015, flipped a coin and ended up with a procharger. Another reason I didn't do a whipple is I was not going to run their factory calibration as I knew I was going to go E85 out of the gate, and all of the tuners at the time were having TB issues with the whipple. The only tuner who was making headway was Lund Racing, and as talented those guys are, none of them wanted to tune my vehicle. That and I already has a good relationship established with my current tuner who does an equally terrific job, just did not have the stuff available to custom tune a whipple at the time.

I can't say the D1SC is better than the Whipple 2.9 or the other way around, I can say this though, the local 2015 2.9 running similar boost and fuel has yet to beat me in a friendly race though. But I'm not going to open pandora's box on this one with that statement. i'd of been happy either direction I went.

The KB production system was released in January of this year:

As far as the cam timing and cylinder pressure stuff, I'll let KB answer that. But, I can tell you that between production based KB systems, and our own Lund tuned system, we have not had any issues with detonation. The camshafts in the 2015 are a God-send, actually.. We've been able to make big numbers, similar to what we see with S197 Boss 302 engines.

Interesting, I knew about tuner kits, not production complete kits. Good to know. Didn't know Lund was tuning them.

No questions the cam control is great, we all use to our advantage.

Hmmmm...so which one is louder??? :)
Our front feed is noticeably louder at WOT as the induction noise doesn't get muffled as much with the shorter intake. But in reality blower speed is a bigger factor in noise. The faster they spin, louder they get.

As you all know I have a Whipple but I do have a couple of questions about the KB that I don't recall reading.

1. Does this kit, being rear fed, require the upper K brace to be removed or cut?

2. I noticed you mentioned the MMR oil pump gear and timing chains in your parts list. Are you saying these need to be installed for this kit? I'm just curious because this would add a substantial increase in installation cost.

Thanks,

Jaime

Well of course you're going to say that KB is better because you sell KB's and not Whipples. Just like Beefcake always pushes Prochargers. What business with a right mind is going to promote a product that he DOESN'T sell. DUH!

I would think a business would generally promote, and hype up the product that they believe to be the best. and sell it. Nothing wrong with that.
