I do believe that unless you have a 401A with digital dash, it's not possible. Possibly something can be done in Forscan, but it's just a guess.

I have 2016 401a 6r80 Car, my gear indicator is always present. No digital dash at all.

You can do it on the digital dash, but it's not intuitive at all. I tried switching to rpm, to watch exactly what it is at idle, and couldn't find the damn setting. Ha ha.

I had a prior 2016 with the 6R80 and analog dash cluster; when Trans selector is in D or S and the user is not using the paddles, the actual numeric trans gear is not present in the cluster.

The same is true with the 10R80 and analog cluster.

Most 6R80/10R80 owners want to see the trans numeric gear value all the time, not just when paddle shifting.

My 6r80 car works in drive and sport mode. And i use it. I wouldn’t want to be without it.

Can you post a vid of your cluster to show the actual gear numbers are not only present in both trans selections D and S, but remain in the cluster, regardless of gear, WITHOUT touching or using the paddles? Meaning the car is completely auto shifting in D or S without user intervention of the shifts and the numeric gear value stays present in the cluster...

The gear values will not display or remain if the car is auto shifting when trans selector is in D or S.

Yes, for a 6R80 or 10R80 w/analog cluster, the numeric gear values will be present and remain in the cluster display only IF the user has touched the paddles and is manually shifting.

I had my tuner turn this on all the time for me. Prior to, would only see it when the paddle shifters were in use.

Does anyone know if this can be done with FORScan?

One of my previous tuners had this feature in his calibrations. Gear indicator was always illuminated no matter what drive/shift modes.

My newest tune revision from PBD somehow turned on the gear indication at all times. Non digital dash. I didnt request it and I dont know why it happened but now I can see the gear at all times.

It would be great to find out how to do it via Forscan. I would imagine the line of code is buried in the TCM?

If it's in the TCM (or perhaps IPC?), then it's just a matter of comparing Andy's current TCM/IPC configuration, if he's willing to export it and to upload it here, with somebody else's. However, since Andy got it after having a tune, I'm afraid the setting may be in the PCM, in which case ForScan won't do.
