The light should be lit green according to my instructions and my own pedalmax. Mine does NOT have the knob though, so maybe that is the difference?

Yes. I have the knob. Green light is on and red light is blinking.

I get that this device increases the signal to the TPS, but I'm wondering how the factory setup works compared to this device. I want a 1:1 ratio between the throttle pedal movement and the throttle body opening just like you would get with a traditional throttle cable. Nothing more, nothing less.

With the factory setup, if you aggressively (quickly) stab the throttle but stay in it at 30% for example, does it take a couple seconds for the throttle body to actually open to 30%? Does this device make the throttle move exactly 1:1 at the rate the throttle pedal is depressed? Or does this device go beyond that and open the throttle faster than you actually depress the pedal?

Crickets! I don't think it's possible to get true 1:1 with a drive by wire. The Pedalmax sits at the pedal and attempts to make up the difference in signaling to trick the ECU into a more linear transition. However, the ECU itself is working against that to normalize the the response and make the car as efficient as possible.

I resurrect this thread mainly, though, because Lethal Performance has a sale on these today. Since they aren't allowed to advertise the price I'll not post any details on the exact discount, but it's a pretty decent deal if you want one. I'm still trying to convince myself.

Worth it at full price. Most people who have bought it and tried it, love it.

I don't see the adjustment knob as being available? Tried to "chat" with someone but they're not too interested in my business I guess.:frusty:

Yea their photo shows it, but they don't mention it as being included, doesn't look optional to buy there unfortunately.

It's mentioned as "optional" in the listing, kinda why I wanted to chat with someone. It said I was #3 in the queue and had an approx wait of 2 minutes. If they are not manning the chat line they shouldn't make it appear as if someone is there. I have better things to do with my time.

Sprint Booster is another option, only comes one way. With 3 different modes. Off, Medium, Max. Works great. Not trying to deter anyone from the JMS I just chose to go another way since I have had many customers at work give great reviews on their BMW's. Just figured I remind people their is another option. I did a small write up in my build thread linked in my signature if anyone is interested. I really didn't need one as I am tuned, and have Premium package selectable driving modes, its kind of redundant, as I could have had my driving modes altered in my tune but I wanted them left stock and have the ability to just turn everything off. But combining the Booster with Sport+/Track mode makes it awfully fun to drive bc your amplifying an already adjusted throttle signal over Normal mode haha. So you have that feeling of being tossed in your seat when light on the throttle. My favorite combo is Sport+ with my Booster on Medium for regular nice weather spirited driving.

Did I see somewhere in all these pages that this is not really necessary if you have a tune?

Depends on what your looking to do with it. Throttle mapping is adjustable with a tune. You just have to know what you want out of your throttle. If you don't have a premium package whatever you ask for will be your throttle map all the time. If you have a premium package all of the driving modes can be adjusted. As that all THEY are is adjusted throttle maps. And Track mode lightens up the nannys a bit. I wanted those to stay stock and be able to revert to them whenever needed as I didn't know what throttle I map I really wanted. And I don't necessarily use only one combination. So I got a Sprint Booster. It gave me more options. All the Booster and JMS is, is a signal amplifier. Your PCM interprets your throttle position by voltage. More voltage = more throttle beside in snow/wet mode... Boosted voltage means the PCM commands more throttle bc that's what it thinks your doing. And in a premium car the signal is compounded even more with Sport+/Track mode throttle maps.

Right, I was actually aware of the Sprint Booster going back a couple years now before hearing about the JMS product. Both are an option for me and finding either one discounted on sale will make owning one a bit easier.

I've heard a couple vendors say it's not necessary with tune because they can adjust the throttle response...

However...

I've heard from a few members here who got tunes and uninstalled the JMS Pedalmax and regretted it. They said the response was not as good without it and put the Pedalmax back on.

Pedalmax + tune+sport mode=Beast mode:headbang:

according to a few hahah

Edit: Lethal Performance has a really good deal on these today and the 23rd. Have to create an account and put coupon code "JMS"
