Why not post the numbers without the tune?
It's not made to be run without a tune. Depending on how an untuned ecu responds, it could actually hurt performance and drive ability.

JLT CAI Install

Jay! I'm not up set...I'm just from N.Y. I watched the video. I stand corrected Sir. My bad...please accept my appology's. Didn't mean to impun. Ignorance on my part...I was contrasting the set up to the closed stock air box and the Roush closed airbox on the new SC set up, as welll as Dave Pericak's comments on no noticeable increases from open air eliments.

Please let me ask you this...would the temp at the filter be any higher at W.O.T., like when doing a dyno to red line? Or is it that you'll be going that much faster that the air will be cooler?

B.T.W. I didn't mean to imply that I didn't or wouldn't buy one of JLT's CAI. In fact...like I stated...I love the look. I was just questioning the HP/ TQ increase without a tune because I didn't understand.

I hope you'll still sell me one...painted Ingot Silver.

Yea, I'm from NY too, upstate.

I explained the testing process before and yes we will post the same results when we get our car the same way and show what the CAI made by itself WITH THE CORRECT TUNE.

Today we are shipping one to Evolution Performance who plans on tuning tomorrow and hitting the track this weekend.
We have one on the way to SCT, Latemodel and Gibson as well.

A normal dyno run in 5th gear is from about 50 MPH to 150 MPH or higher. So think about it, if you watch the video and see at say 70 temps are 2-3 degrees above ambient, what would they be with 150 MPH air flowing all around the car and into the fresh air inlet? Not hot I can tell you that and no I will not do a video on the street showing the temps at those speeds.

I can say I have hit 155 MPH on the back straight at VIR but wasn't looking at the temp gauge ;)

Thanks
Jay

I dont really care about a CAI day one but I do care about a catch can after getting the car home. Did you have to develop a new catch can for the 2015?Either way I have to purchase one if I pick up a 2015.

They already stated they are a direct swap with their current catch cans.

JLT is top quality! Had their CAI on my 03 Cobra with custom paint!! Awesome looking setup and performed amazing!!

This will be the CAI that goes on my '15GT :)
Thank you sir
Have a first gen. JLT full length CAI on my '01 bullitt and love it. Get compliments on it everywhere. Never had it dynoed, but with an e-mail tune made a huge difference.
Thanks!!
I think something that gets lost in these conversations is that often times a CAI will actually flow more air (more cfm) than the stock air box and filter. That's the main reason I buy CAI, not for the decrease in temps but for the INCREASE in airflow that leads to greater gains with a tune and exhaust.

I will be looking into this JLT CAI. :)
U have guys on here that could not change a set of plugs but going to argue tuning issues, great work guys and post some numbers when u get the tune.
Agreed

Actually with the addition of wide bands in 2011 the car will run fine and pick up power for about 25 miles, then the car stops fixing itself (adjusting A/F) and throws a CEL.

As a matter of fact the NMRA class Coyote stock doesn't allow tuning, but they can use a CAI. Reset the computer, make a pass and the car is safe and makes power.
Note, the winner of the class uses a JLT CAI :headbang:

Are the twin screw blower intakes the same as the 11-14? That's the one I am waiting for.

If the MAF sensor housing is larger than stock, it doesn't matter that it has wideband sensors. The MAF sensor will be telling the ECU that it is getting less air than it really is. This can cause a very lean condition(depending on the diameter change, stock is 80-90mm?) and potentially damage the engine.

Doesn't the Mustang already have a cold air intake from the factory?

The Mustang has a factory airbox, panel filter and ducting to draw in fresh air from the front of the vehicle. It's also a smaller diameter, more restrictive and doesn't allow the engine to breathe as much cold air in as it could (and is needed the more you mod the car).

The 2015 Mustang JLT Cold Air Intake makes more power and continues to be crucial to the engine as you add aftermarket components such as exhaust, throttle body, intake manifold, etc.

The factory intake is no joke, but an aftermarket cold air intake is still going to net pretty good gains, especially when coupled with a good quality custom tune!
