I looked today. Getting them out would be a major cluster f**k! There is only one way I can see to eliminate them. Cut one wire or, take a pencil tip soldering iron to one lead and pull it away from the tab it's soldered to.
Getting the parcel shelf cover off is not very difficult. Without any foreknowledge of the process I managed to get it all apart with relative ease gaining complete access to the speakers.

Guess I'll have to try again. I figure those big black clips move to the left. Then, push upwards I'm guessing.

I can’t visualize the black clips you are referring to. But there are two large push pins that are behind where the side panels overlap but once those are out getting the panel out is fairly easy.

Did you simply cut one wire at the speaker terminal on both speakers ?
When I did my factory amp delete, I made an interface harness and left the rears unconnected. The wires still run from the OEM connector to the rear speakers but nothing is powering them.
