Hi all, long time lurker of the forum here.

At about 500 miles I noticed I got the tick and engine rattle on my 18. I just bought the car new 1 month ago. The dealer also informed me that I was a quart low when I brought it to them. The car has 1k miles (950 when I brought to them) and I did check the oil at 500 miles and it was full.

As of now they want me to drive it and see if I lose more oil and then they will see what my options are. Below is a video of the rattle when I rev it to 1500ish. I also have a bad shock and a bunch of interior rattles.

I appreciate any opinion. This is my 3rd coyote car. Was hoping to supercharge this one and get back in the 9s. Wish I didnt sell my 17 GT at this point.

That sounds awful. Mine (after an oil change, for a few thousand miles) is like a subtle clicking, that's like a real clacking and smacking.

Creeks, rattles and overall crappy interior is hallmark of Mustang's. I know a lot of people will hate on my opinion but as an owner of a 2018 GT, I have to say I am truly disappointed with the car.

1) Creeks and rattles from the interior (C-Pillar passenger side, center vents, and instrument cluster area). Sounds like a beat-up old car
2) Paint chipping off from places that do not get touched by anything or anyone
3) A10 transmission shift from 2-3 and 4-5 so harsh it bucks (No this is not sporty at all because for the first 7,000 miles the car was fine)
4) Ticking engine and rattles too at times
5) Rear view mirror vibrates at speeds above 60mph. I have had the car tires road force balanced twice and still the issue persists. Could be due to an imbalanced drive-shaft.
6) The driver seat heating makes a whirring sound so loud it gives me a slight headache. Dealer says its normal. My 8 year old Infinit G37 with 100K miles has heated seats that dont make a peep.
7) The lack of respect and care Ford and its dealerships have towards their customer is absolutely appalling.
8) The heated steering wheel works only randomly and is not consistent about where it heats the steering. The steering wheel leather itself looks like 5 years old after 10 months of normal use.

I am $45K deep on the car note and am extremely unhappy spending this money.

Weird stuff for sure. I agree, this one sounds different than the BBQ tick. I have the 2200-2800 rpm flutter under very light throttle, but I don't have the BBQ tick. I've had the flutter since 250 miles. I'm at 4,000 miles now. Mine uses about 1/2 qt of oil every 1K miles. First oil change was at 2K. Still running 5w20 blend. OP, do you have the 2200-2800 rpm flutter? My car build date was 5/18. Motor build date was 4/18. Motor is still running strong.

Just to add, I've had no other issues with the car so far, other than the 2200-2800 rpm flutter. Still not positive this doesn't have something to do with the port/direct injection.

.

I would be really upset if I was you but ...

My 16 has known of those issues. 15k miles and 2 years later my car is still perfect. Creeks, rattles and overall crappy interior is NOT the hallmark of Mustangs.

Thats awesome! This is my first American car and first V8 as well. I was so excited when I got it in Jan of 2018 but after 2 months and about 1300 miles the ugly things started to show up and I am just sad about the whole situation. I dont mean to just rant and talk ill about the Mustang. I am a car guy and appreciate all sorts of cars but unfortunately, Ford has really turned me off from their lineup. The dealers and Ford customer service have brushed me off a couple of times as if these things are normal and a non issue.

43K on my '16 and the only sound my interior makes is a pop from the dash here and there when the temperature changes, like sunshine on the dash on a cold day or turning on the heat/ac. Just general expansion and contraction related stuff. Otherwise it's tight.

Funny, that reminds me more like what a transmission engagement sounds like. Generally not good for an engine to make that sound. Which method did you break it in with? Some say drive it like you stole it, others say follow the manual. Would be interesting to see if that makes any difference with everyone that has the tick/rattle. Also, if you hold the throttle down slightly instead of slightly revving, does it make that noise consistently or does it pop up and go away?

Wow, are you sure they sold you a new car? You certainly got the bottom of the barrel. No one I know that has a car 5 years or less with 50k or more have most or any of the issues you mentioned. Some are mustangs some are other brands. I would also be peeved. I would also take it to another dealer as your dealer sounds like they suck. I bought my daughter a Focus a couple years ago and they bend over backwards every time it has been in.

I pretty much broke mine in by the manual. First 1K was pretty gentle. Varied speeds, no cruise, nothing past 6000 rpm, and then maybe only a couple times. Trust me though, I've made up for it over the next 3K.
