I don't own one yet, but I have some reservations due to the fit and finish. They should also have had better straight line performance than the outgoing car, but I will never drive it fast enough for that to matter.

Should/Would/Will are all terms that you could apply to any car.

The 71 Mustang with the 302 should have outrun the 70 Mustang with the 302...but did it? No.

Yes there are alignment issues and yes qc issues but that is a small fraction in the grand scheme of ones built. Overall, It's a home run.

There are about 120k cars out there. We probably have 2000 owners on this board. I bet people that have fitment issues out of those 2000 owners are 100 that post on this forum.

The whole build quality issue is BLOWN way out of proportion. Typical, squeaky wheel gets the grease type of thing.

For example: none of the cars at my dealership had a flush line across the bottom of the trunk and the tail lights. The trunks all stuck out at least 1/4" on every car.

That isn't to say every car has massive gaps and sagging windows such as some members' have had on here, but there are definitely minor issues on most/all of the cars.

Ford QC is just...not great.

Sorry, your statement is false. End of story. You have zero facts to back up your statement as your sample set is just a bit tiny, wouldn't you say?

I can rattle off 100 cars from our local S550 club that have zero issues, mine included.

The only disappointment (aside from panel gaps) IMO is they still use the MT82. Had they gone for Tremec for the S550 I'd be a happy camper.

Sure the Camaro will be faster stock vs stock but Chevy also just cannibalized their C7 sales if you ask me. My Dad is a Vette owner and is part of a pretty large and very active Corvette club and those guys are not happy to see all the Corvette parts going to the Camaro.

Also, when I buy a car I get it loaded or very close to fully loaded and paying another 4-5K for a Camaro would not be worth it to me not to mention I don't really dig the evolutionary style changes. Chevy really needed a revolutionary change in the looks/functionality department just as much as performance. They got all of A but basically none of B.

The MT82 is a different animal with some Amsoil Synchromesh (or similar) and an MGW shifter. I no longer hate this transmission.

Absolutely no dissapointments or issues, and I came from a 2 seater track oriented sports car that weighed more than 1000lbs less with a hand built engine that revved to 9150rpm and had what's known as one of the best shifting 6spds of all time. It didn't have torque though, which the mustang has plenty of! :p

I'm just glad I got the pp with crazy short gears and everything else, made it not feel like too crazy of a transition. Still feels plenty nimble and tossable enough on track/canyons, but hugs me in comfort while barreling down the highway, which is something my old car also lacked in a big way. It was like driving a chain saw, where as the mustang feels like driving...well...something much nicer than a chain saw.

I'm going to explain things from my perspective.
In the 90s, GM's F-body cars (Camaro & Trans AM) ran circles around the Mustang. The V8 Mustang in the mid 90s was about as fast as a V6 Camaro.
The V8 Camaro outbraked, outgunned the Mustang GT to 60, 1/4 mile, handling, slalom, even MPG.
But many more people bought the Mustang and the Camaro/Firebird were discontinued.

There's more to a car than its 0-60 time or its 1/4 mile time.
It's about the whole package. Mustang was always the better whole package.

I'll tell you - I went to look at the Mustang randomly. At first I thought the S550 was ugly. But I sat in it, drove it and was immediately impressed. Then I went to the GM megadealer down the road, and asked to see the Camaro (2015). I was much more excited for the Camaro; 6.2 pushrod, gorgeous styling, etc. I am much bigger of a Chevy fan than a Ford. The Camaro was my #1 purchase, I just needed to drive one to confirm that I loved it as much as I thought I did.
They found one in their massive collection of hundreds of cars. I climbed behind the wheel and sat in it and...
I just felt...blah. The interior was very...
Okay, the Mustang interior looked like somebody designed it and then Ford made it for the Mustang.
The Camaro interior looked like GM went to the Camaro team with a giant bin of loose parts and said, "Pick some buttons and parts out of this bin. We have Impala parts, Volt parts, Corvette parts, Silverado parts, Cruze parts. But that's all you get. And try to use more Cruze parts and less Corvette parts."

That and...I was honestly scared to drive it. Not that it was all mighty and powerful, but I couldn't see out of it. I was so worried I'd hit something in the parking lot. Or not see the red light turn green because of the sloped windshield.

I left, hurt because the Camaro I always wanted turned out to be such a disappointment.

And now the new one has an AMAZING LT1 V8 and 8 speed auto. And it's insanely fast.

But the rest of the car, the car I'd be driving 99.99999% of the time within pretty legal ranges on public roads, would drive me nuts to live with.

And that is what you WON'T get with dyno numbers, with magazine numbers, with 0-60 numbers. How's the car to live with when you're not flooring it at a drag strip or weaving through cones?

How's it to live with when you're in downtown traffic trying to parallel park, or merging onto the freeway, or going for a long road trip. How does the car make you feel when you touch the buttons, or slide behind the wheel, or fire it up, or look at it?

I'm a Chevy guy, and I always wanted a Camaro since I was 12 years old and I'm almost 30 now. I never owned one and suddenly I had the opportunity to buy one. And I went with an S550. Your mileage may vary but just don't get hung up on magazine times.
You are SPOT ON!! I am a chevy service manager and know all too well what you mean!!

Well, no particular loyalties here! Have owned many cars since my 1st new 67. ChevyII 327-4spd 2dr sedan....a new 95 Mustang GT convert and a new 2012 BMW 650 Coupe!! into muscle cars and hot rods all my life!!! Yes, I'm one of the old farts on this site!!!

There is ZERO things negative about this new Stang!! Ford nailed it right on the money in design, suspension and performance!! All you have to do is check of some special things on the option list and make it yours with a few after market goodies!!

No disappointment here whatsoever!!! This thread should not be this long for such a great car!!!!

Thanx for reading this!! Ric

I have Amsoil in it. Its not the shifter that bothers me its the gearing, the whine, and 3-4 lockout during HPDE sessions. Hopefully the FTBR bracket will fix the lockout at least.

The ONLY disappointment I have is the proximity of the slide-out storage drawer and the trunk release.......That's it!

In this price range and performance category/level I would just buy the one that you think looks better.

We are marketed to with race car metrics but which of our cars is a race car? When you travel from A to B in a given amount of time who got there before and after you? (No one) When you get into an acceleration test with another person, what do you win or not win? (Nothing)

The twin turbo or procharged shop cars on the forum aren't race cars, they are advertising tools.

My point is, don't worry about it, buy the one you like. I spent 30 years as a Chevy guy, only Camaros, Silverados, Corvettes, etc.... Honestly, I like the looks of the Mustang better than the Camaro so I daily the Mustang. Ford doesn't have something to compete with the Corvette so I have a C7, modified.....My wife hates the Camaro, Mustang, and Corvette so she drives a Mercedes.

Brand loyalty is ultimately a bad idea. When people post about if "we should be worried about the new Camaro" or stuff like that, it's sad. All we did was buy a car. We aren't on a Ford or Mustang team, we don't share in the profits, we didn't design the car, we don't get paid if they win races or sell more units.

Just relax and be happy with what you have.

:clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

This is what i try to tell people about brand loyalty. For EVERYTHING.... I don't understand why folks don't realize that if A comes out with something B will come out with Something +1. If you always buy A then you will be stuck waiting for your +1 upgrade for sometime. Buy what you like and think is best at the time you want/need have the money for it. There will ALWAYS be something better.

Don't be a brandwhore... buy what you think is best and you will do fine.
