I was wondering. Is their a way to tunn off the interior lights so when you open the doors the interior lights don't come on. Maybe I am missing something here

You know, I don't believe there is. I hadn't noticed it, but I'm now surprised by that.

They must have gotten tired of warranty visits for "no interior lights" only to find out that the (now non-existent) switch was off.

My '16 is the same and it drives me crazy all the time. I mean how hard is it to add a on/off switch. Hell, my 2003 350z had one and that was 3 cars ago for me. Side note, I loved that car. While it certainly didn't have the power of a mustang it was such much fun to drive. I had that car for 9 years and did nothing but oil changes, tires, batteries and brakes. It never broke down, I traded it in at 187k miles and it was still running strong. I got rid of it because I wanted a back seat. I have half a back seat now, the drive side is useless unless your a child.

I guess or it was a peanut counters decision as a way to save a few bucks per car sold.

I miss the center dome light! This is the first car I ever owned without one. The switch would be on that. I guess that is why they use the map lights to illuminate the interior.

Even on my 2015 GT, the map lights are the only source of usable interior lights. I also miss the roof mounted center light. WHen I open my doors or unlock the car, my map lights illuminate for about 30 seconds. Longer than that I have to manually turn them back on.

If you have forscan you can put it into dark mode. But that is a pain if you want the lights on. So far I like dark mode.

Yep, it kills all lights. I hated when I shut it off and opened the door and the headlights stayed on.

Make it hard to sneak in late. When I was a teenager my drive was downhill, so I could coast in lights out.

Unfortunately NO. As mentioned, the only way to turn them off is with 'dark mode' via FORScan, but you can't turn them on again, plus it kills other lights too. At least Ford should have put that stupid 'dark mode' feature on the settings, to change it easily. Anyway, I left things alone, but yeah, it sucks, especially with the marginal battery on our cars.

This must be the same bean-counter that decided to remove the second horn from all 2019 Fords. 🤔
