Is it harmful to rev your engine while stopped with FI?

Every time I go out somewhere, there’s always kids and just random people telling me to rev it.
Is it harmful if I do rev it? Or does it not effect anything? While stopped or in neutral ?

Since getting the Vortech I've had people ask me too, but the instructions do say not to do this. But they do it in Fast & Furious so it must be fine.

Yep, absolutely dangerous. That’s why there is a “Remote Rev feature on the S650.

in general its ok

most people though, fire a cold engine up and do high revs, as people ask you to do this when they see yougetting in the car

not recommend as oil temperature is really low, unless you just parked from a ride,

if its warm , isn't gonna hurt anything

To piggy back off what Terry states, you can rev the engine probably 20-30 seconds after starting, once the oil has had enough time to pump through the passages and lubricate the moving parts. Revving an unloaded, warm engine, should in theory, be easier on the components, than when it is loaded. That being said, I wouldn't rev it up to 7k rpm when it's not up to operating temp, but that's just me. I have been known to break things that were supposed to not break the way I did it, so....

Just thought it may be harmful since I’m pro charged and have a fuel system.
I wonder what my rev limiter is set at.

Warmed up this should be the only issue. Although I'd rather hit the limiter under no load than in 1st gear WOT.

I always make sure my car is warm. I always wait until after the rpm drops and the car quiets down. Always a few minutes.
My car would spin like crazy there’s no way I can reach that high in 1st gear lol

It's spinning the engine, plus the tranny, driveshaft rear gears and tires. That's a lot of additional weight for the limiter to stop.

Didn’t know that. I thought it just cuts power like traction does when you punch it from a stop and it slips.

It does but when it does it shocks the timing components. This shock is what breaks the gears and sprocket.

Stay off the limiter. These guys in these imports you see running around revving and bouncing off the limiter, on this car is no bueno.
