I dont think the recaros should necessarily be power, especially with the improvement on the standard seat design that (based on looking at them) should be supportive for most spirited driving. however i would think the same person who wants the extra support of the recaros would want to save weight by not having the power motors and would also want to save the weight on the heating elements and much heavier cooling elements. point is for the majority for customers i would expect the ppl checking the heat/cooled box to also want power memory. and the people checking the recaro box to not want any of it. there are of course exceptions

i love memory power seats, you never know when you have to move the seat for putting ppl or stuff in the back seat, letting a friend or family member drive the car, etc. probably not as much of a problem with a truck, or if the mustang is not your DD.
Yeah I'm not one of those guys that weight means everything to me. I guess the power seats in my Raptor are more of hassle and the heated part of them have spoiled me. I was just hoping Recaros with the option of heated and/or cooled would be offered. My Raptor seats hug and hold me in place. The last Mustang I rode in was a 12 GT that was 736 rwhp and I was thrown all over the car in the base seats. I understand the seats weren't made for that type of power and the suspension was all done too. Ever since riding in that monster Recaros have been on my list of options I wanted to order.

FYI the cooling system for the seats consists of only two tiny fans that circulate air through the perforations in the seat covers. Both together probably weigh a pound at most. I've pulled quite a few out of Mercedes seats and they really don't add hardly any weight at all. It definitely sucks the Recaros still don't come with heat and the potential of cooled seats either.

Like I said before, so much effort in all kinds of electronic gimmics yet they completely forgo on BASIC functionality like heated seats. We don't all live in California you know.

RECARO does offer them, wish Ford would spec them as an option.

Power Climate Package: Includes both heat and cooling systems. The heated seat and backrest will keep you warm in the winter and the ventilation system will keep you cool in the summer.

I've driven a few cars equipped with them, Mercedes C63 among them.

My point was as available from Ford in my previous post.

I'm sorry, I think the Recaros in the Focus ST Look 1000 times better than the ones in the Mustang. Not that it really matters to me anyway. They're too aggressively bolsterd for me. I'm a Big Guy. I tried sitting in a Focus ST with Recaros and they were very uncomfortable for me.

I like the Mustang offering for Recaros, at least looks-wise.

I guess I will have to source the heated/cooled/electric adjusting Recaros separately for my car.

I love the Recaro seats!! I don't need any of those things fancy things like cooling and heating. I love the seats in my STi, my friends Evo's and the pole positions in my buddy's VW. After being riding around in Recaro seats for so long I am not sure I could ever have something without them.

So in total for interior we have seen
Black cloth and leather recaros
Black Leather
Saddle Brown leather seats
and white stone leather seats (through the windows of the guard car in Detroit)

Is red leather going to make an appearance on the 2015?

In general I really like that just the seats are getting the coloring vs any other interior trim sections. I think that helps the seat color stand out.

I agree it does make the seat color stand out and will help from color overload for bolder colors like red. and nice catch on the white leather seats, I didnt even see that the first time around.

It looks like a great combo paired up with Guard.

I'm certain they will have both versions of the Recaros in leather so you can still get your power and HVAC in them. But then again who the hell knows for sure at this point.

FWIW...If weight is an issue with anyone...we did some comparisons a few years back.
My base GT had cloth manual seats which weigh 38 lbs each. with hardware and brackets.
My buddies 2013 Premium GT with full leather HVAC seats weigh 74 lbs each, ditto.

I'm sure the Leather HVAC Recaro's weigh a few pounds less but I could be wrong. We didn't have them to weigh.

I purchased manual Recaro Speed seats for my car and with brackets weigh 31 lbs each. I didn't save much weight but needed them for the track.

It was confirmed by a Ford rep at the Detroit auto show(posted by JarStang I believe) that the Recaro seats do not have heated or cooling functions.

edit:
The Recaros (cloth or leather) will NOT have the heated/cooled seat function.

The buttons were shown on some of the vehicles because they are pre-production.

We confirmed this with Ford's Mustang Marketing Manager, Melanie Banker.

Interesting but that's fine from my point of view. It would be nice to drive with the windows down in the humid summers and not have soggy bottoms LOL.
