Hi all! 2021 GT Premium. This morning, driving along, I noticed the screen did not update when the next song started playing from my Pixel using Pandora. Then a couple minutes later the audio completely stopped and the song info on the screen disappeared. the top header info seemed to still be the same. I tried cutting everything off and restarting but no change. Parked car at home in garage, removed key from vicinity, then tried system a few hrs later without starting car and the music was back, seemed normal. Anyone know the problem?

Not 100% sure but I’ve had issues with CarPlay before and have had to restart the infotainment system by holding the next or FF button (right arrow) and the power button until the screen goes black and restarts.

Sometimes I’ll have to restart my phone as that’s the issue but it seems to only happen once in a blue moon.

I'm wondering if its the "beginning of the end" for the APIM? The one in my F150 got draggy shortly after the warranty ran out and I ended up on the hook for $400+ for one off of E Bay.

I mean I’ve had all my cars new and it’s happened anywhere from 300 miles to 15k miles. If it happens every time then I’d be concerned but once in a while seems to be the norm, at least for me.

Thanks, I'll be keeping an eye on it!

Check to see if your relevant apps need an update. My android misbehaves when there is an updated ...that's how I know there are updates since I never look at it otherwise.

I have a dedicated data only Samsung S9 with nothing on it except Waze, TuneIn, Android Auto, in the console connected with a short high grade data USB cable...fits perfectly

Will you elaborate on the use of this S9? Kept in the car, useful for trips, etc?

Since new my 2020 has randomly not updated the next track over bluetooth. When it annoys me I do a soft reset on the SYNC with the power + track forward button and restart it and it's good to go after.

I blame bluetooth/the phone connection more than anything else, I wouldn't worry about the APIM or anything on the car.

I bought a new / recon S9 unlocked for $200. Put in a data only sim. It's only there to run android auto, Waze, and TuneIn paid subscription with favorites avail on sensus. It fits very nicely in the console. I have it in a sunglass bag so it can breath and protected from scratches.

I use a high grade USB data cable with 90 degree USB plug so it doesn't get damaged when reaching in console. Went through a few cables until got the 90 degree USB plug.

Whenever S9 needs and update the connection gets wonky then stops until do the app update, mainly android auto.

I remove the Gmail account from the device after updates etc. all functions except goggle and location are disabled with back ground data off.

I love TuneIn. I have it set to high quality stream with most favorites that are 256+ stream quality. A good starting point are RTL Germany stations that cover all generas, no ads, high quality stream. Some stations are 192, 256 but quality sucks. Some are 320 with good quality. Some stations have ads. Takes some time to find the good ones.
