Have recently been experiencing a glitch in Sync 3 where the "Now Playing" button on CarPlay doesn't work. The previous/forward buttons to change songs don't work either, volume and the rest still do. This happens on and off whenever I plug in my phone each time I turn on the car. This happens while using Spotify.

Doing a master reset didn't help.
Doing a manual shutdown on the radio didn't work.
Restoring the iPhone didn't work.
Unplugging the battery to reset the radio didn't work.

I notice this when streaming vs something being downloaded before hand.

So if I'm in Apple Music and I search for something random and start playing it, over LTE, it needs to be buffered and the Car Play controls don't necessarily reflect that it is playing, it just hasn't buffered enough yet to start playing.

Same with Podcasts - if it's been previously downloaded, play plays right away. If it has to be downloaded first, play starts it on the phone, but the control on Car Play doesn't change to play nor does any music start playing until it can actually play it.

I don't use Spotify, but I know content can be downloaded for offline use. Is what your playing streaming or has it been downloaded already?

I’ve had this issue on multiple Carplay systems and only happens with Spotify.

When I hit play nothing plays.
When I hit play the song plays at double speed.
When I hit play it says I’m offline.

I have to grab the phone and exit spotify and then open it again and all is good. I chalk it up to an issue with spotify. I’d report the but I’m not sure how.

Audible, and Apple Music always work fine. Its just Spotify that has issues. And its not isolated to Sync 3 on the Mustang.

I tried with something that was downloaded and it still happens, so it's not that. I haven't tried it with other music apps but I think it's not just Spotify. When pressing the Now Playing button, you can see that there's a glitch on the iPhone itself. It's like a separate white screen appears and goes to the side as you press Now Playing.

I've had that happen too, but just restarting Spotify fixes it as you said.
This issue is consistent though, exiting the app doesn't do anything. Restarting the phone sometimes clears it but not always.

Odd thing is that is just started happening recently. I had sync3 for a few months since I switched from mft and no issues then, just stared happening last week.

I have a Pioneer NEX7200 or something like that in another car and its had Carplay for over a year. I’ve had the same Spotify issues with it since I first used it, over multiple iPhones.
