So my wife just added to our mustang collection, and i noticed that the driver side door does not sit flush with the rear quarter pannels. (Image 1) compared to the passenger side where its smooth and flush (image 2)... would anybody have any recommendations on what i could do to tweak the door to where it closes all the way flush with the side profile of the car. Its a convertable so the issue were running into is that with the already commonly known issue with the rear side windows not fully closing up all the way, the doot also isnt getting shut properly so sometimes after riding with the top sown there is a significant gap between the driver window and the rubber gasket surrounding the backseat window (image 3) if anybody has anything that would help it would be much appreciated!! Thanks!

I can't help with the door but the window isn't usually too hard to fix. Most people are able to correct the window by simply luring the window track. I used a silicone based dielectric grease. With the top up and the window down spread a very light coating of the grease in the window track. Top to bottom and on both sides. I did this shortly after getting my car used in 2019 and haven't had a problem since.
To be transparent, there is a procedure to adjust the rear window track but most don't have to go to that extreme. There are how-tos on YouTube if you're inclined.
There is quite a long thread about this in the convertible section of this forum.
That's all assuming the car is out of warranty. Ford will fix the window, if not door alignment, under warranty.

I prefer the dielectric grease as it doesn't seem to attract dirt.
You should really peruse the convertible section, it will answer a lot of questions and provide answers and suggestion for things you may not have thought about yet.
For the door, I'd consider asking a good, local body shop.

Looks like the door striker needs to be moved inboard about 1/8 to 1/4 inch.

Is that how to do it? It makes sense but if that's all it is why would the dealer give him the runaround?
Because they know unless you have a great body tech, they’re going to be dicking around with it for a good while.

I have the same problem as Image 1. But the top of the door lines up, the bottom sticks out like his.

So same fix ? The striker ?

Took me forever to line the hood properly ha-ha.

I have the same issue with our 2016 vert, only it's the passenger door. When we bought the car three yrs ago I loosened the bolts on the striker but was unable to get any adjustment. Three yrs later the door still sits proud of the quarter panel. I guess I'm over it.

Not that I did this, but, buy a new door post striker, weld up the holes and make new holes W/c'sinks whatever distance needed to get door flush.

Approx .060" to .090" should make a big difference.

^^^ Do NOT do this ^^^^ The door striker should have plenty of movement when loosened and adjusted. There's a nut plate behind the 1/4 skin that will move with it. You may just need to take it to a body shop for the adjustment.

There is a thread on here somewhere (I couldn't find it) with the Ford manual which shows all the adjustment points for the doors. Maybe you will have better luck searching than me.

Otherwise, find a good body shop for the door. Probably a pretty simple tweak.
