I went ahead and spec'd out the car how I wanted it. Waiting for whatever confirmation would come next and to place a deposit.

Congrats on landing an R at MSRP. Never a doubt in my mind that you'd pull the trigger, despite everything you've done to your car. Just think, the joy of modding from a fresh start begins again. ;)

If the gt350 vs GT350R had different engines or drivetrain I'd say yes, but that's not the case. Just my opinion. Good luck with your choice.

As others have said, I would get the R, unless you are planning on getting the next top mustang. Although I haven't driven mine more than a few hundred miles, the R is absolutely fantastic, and well worth it, IMO.

Because of that's what you mean I highly doubt it.
And if he does to a R what he did to his Tech that would de value it. Unless he keeps all the original parts.
