I still use Liquid Glass polish on all my vehicles, you can use it in the sun or shade, it goes on easy and comes off easy. Advanced Auto Parts acquired the rights to exclusively sell Liquid Glass for those who want it, if they don't have it in the store they can order it for you.

Hi Bill. Welcome to the site. I have been using liquid glass since I was 16 years old. What you are using from advanced auto parts is a fake. I wouldn’t be using that on my car. Liquid glass was bought by a company called MPT in Teaneck New Jersey which is where liquid glass originated. You can tell yours is a fake by the Corvette on the can. It is wrong. MPT is suing advanced auto parts as we speak. Attached is a picture of the difference between the two. The one on the left is the real deal. It is now available in plastic bottles instead of metal cans as well. Cuts down on the freight.
I’ll also post a link where you can buy the real stuff. There are also many comments about it on here by me. I just want you to be safe with that paint of yours.

I have never seen the can on the right that you have the photo of, every can I have is the same as the can on the left. I am posting two photos one of a can of Liquid Glass before the owner got into legal trouble and the second photo of five cans of Liquid Glass with the can in the middle being before the owner got into legal trouble and the other cans purchased from Advanced Auto Parts.

That’s a good sign but also still be careful that those cans are most likely super old. AAP may have cut a deal to take the rest of the inventory which most likely is ancient because original liquid glass has been out of business for quite a while. MPT only picked it up a little over a year ago.Attached is the new packaging from MPT in a plastic bottle. The cans haven’t been used for years.

I just ordered a bottle of the Liquid Glass from this Liquid Glass web site but one thing kind of concerns me is Liquid Glass always used LG100 on the order and this new bottle uses LG900.

At any rate I will compare this bottle of Liquid Glass with the can of Liquid Glass I have as I am positive the cans I have are the original Liquid Glass. I was not aware that Advance Auto Parts had changed the can appearance and labeling.

I still like Liquid Glass and have used it for years with great results as the more coats you apply the deeper the shine gets with it. My 2018 Yamaha Star Venture the paint looks like you can reach into it the shine is so deep and Yamaha is not known for the best paint.

I received the MPT Liquid Glass in the bottle and it is not the original Liquid Glass, it is very runny and when you apply it after it dries it does not come off as easy as the original Liquid Glass did.

The photo of the Corvette on the MPT bottle while appears to be the same car it is taken from a different angle than used on the cans of original Liquid Glass.

I am going to buy a can of Liquid Glass from Advanced Auto Parts with the photo of the newer Corvette on it and compare it as well.

Here are a couple of videos comparing the original Liquid Glass from cans to the MPT Liquid Glass from the bottle and you can see they are not the same and how runny the MPT version is vs the original Liquid Glass from the cans.

OK this site does not allow you to insert a short video I guess so here is a photo showing the difference in the formula. The examples are in the same order as the two cans and one bottle.

I put a coat of the MPT version of Liquid Glass on my John Deere tractor hood and used some of the Liquid Glass from the can on the right side in the photos on the body behind the the hood and the Liquid Glass from the can wiped off very easy with no roughness to it. The MPT version of Liquid Glass I wiped off the hood felt rougher and was a little harder to wipe off.

There is definitely something different in the formula of the MPT version of Liquid Glass they are selling as it is very runny and by runny I mean a water like consistency when you pour it from the plastic bottle.

The cans have the original more firm consistency and wipe off without a rough feeling.

I may try to find a can of the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass with the photo of the new Corvette photo today or Wednesday, I have a package coming today that I need to be home for.

I guess it’s possible for the actual material formula to be the same but the materials themselves have changed over the years. Possibly the material suppliers have changed or they slightly changed their formulas.

Kind of like a restaurant that says all their fried foods are cooked in peanut oil but then change vendors. The food may taste different but the ā€œformulaā€ is the same.

Another LG devotee of several decades here, I've never found anything better. I literally have a box full of other waxes that I've tried that just weren't as good.

I have noticed that the MPT needs to be shook quite a bit more and you can feel the liquid eventually coagulate with everything else in there and it does get much thicker. You just need to shake a lot as you apply.

OK, I said I would purchase a can of the Liquid Glass with the photo of the newer Corvette on the can so here is a comparison of the MPT Liquid Glass from the black plastic bottle, the original Liquid Glass from the can and the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass with the newer Corvette on the can.

The MPT Liquid Glass sample is on the left the original Liquid Glass sample is in the middle and the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass in on the right as you can see the original Liquid Glass and the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass have the same consistency while the MPT Liquid Glass is very runny with a wet liquid water like consistency.

Also the MPT version of Liquid Glass has a much greener color to it. The original Liquid Glass and the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass are very close in color with the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass being just a slight bit more blueish to it.

The feel of the MPT Liquid Glass is again like water consistency, the original Liquid Glass and the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass feel the same with the same firmer consistency to them.

After comparing all three my conclusion is the MPT Liquid Glass is not the same formula, I think MPT purchased the rights to the Liquid Glass font and used a different photo of the original Corvette on their bottle, but I don't think they purchased the rights to the original formula.

The Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass still uses the same style can but changed the font used to spell Liquid Glass and used a photo of a newer Corvette.

I used the original Liquid Glass on the hood of my John Deere tractor and the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass on the rear body work to compare them in use, the Advanced Auto Parts Liquid Glass goes on similar but a little more friction and comes off easy but again with a little more friction than the original Liquid Glass.

It looks like MPT doesn’t sell ā€œLiquid Glassā€ anymore. They also moved from West Caldwell, NJ to Dover, NJ.

Edit. Never mind, wrong website.

Edit 2.
From their website. Thought this was interesting.

PLEASE NOTE: Beware of counterfeits and imposters. Only original Liquid Glass Polish/Finish products display the red 1964 Corvette IMSA roadster — anything else is a counterfeit or imitation. One more thing it was mentioned that maybe the bottle of MPT Liquid Glass needed to be shaken up to mix it, I did shake the living you know what out of it and it remained like water so I poured out $36 dollars worth of MPT Liquid Glass just to be sure it had not formed a solid at the bottom of the bottle but when I was done pouring it out there was no solid build up at the bottom of the bottle.

I am of the opinion that the MPT Liquid Glass is a counterfeit or imitation as well.
