Traffic rules has changed. It is now who gets there first. Someone can run a red light but you hit them you are at fault. Whoever hits the other car no matter the reason is at fault.

I have noticed a lot of folks are that way. I started noticing people ( not all of them ) that cut in a grocery store line sometimes don't even see people standing in an existing line. They live in a bubble.
They also drive that way, they need to be one lane over and don't even think " wow somebody might be there"
That it more middle age folks, the younger folks are checking their phones and the older folks can't see

Bad driving occurs at any age. Almost got t-boned this morning cuz some idiot in a Camaro blew a red light. Had to be going at least 55 in a 35, didn’t even attempt to slow down so either not paying attention or didn’t give a shit. Honked my horn at him and at the next light he looked at me like I was the moron. Looked to be mid to late 20’s but it’s hard to tell these days. Definitely on the younger side though.

Just so you all know, I sold my car, bought a prius, and now park 3 miles away in an open field in order to avoid the senior citizen "bump and park technique" that happend to me. My broken mirror is now hanging in my garage as a reminder to never denigrate an old person who cant park again. Thanks to all for those helpful tips and support.

By all means let's keep it going though. After 12 pages I'd like to hear more information about texting and driving, blowing stop signs, and other examples not related to my experience. Can we make it to 20 pages...? Let's do it!

Has your work considered parking lines? Letting people just freely park like that is how stuff like this usually happens. Go for those ultra wide Costco style parking spots!

Just so you all know, I sold my car, bought a prius, and now park 3 miles away in an open field in order to avoid the senior citizen "bump and park technique" that happend to me. My broken mirror is now hanging in my garage as a reminder to never denigrate an old person who cant park again.

The better solution would be to buy a Smart car. That way you can just put it in your pocket when you get to work and bring it inside with you. Can’t get damaged if it’s not outside

If you had hit the guy even if he blew the light they would blame you. You can even have a dash cam footage showing he blew the light, the insurance would still fault the person hitting the other car

I would hope that wouldn’t be the case. It would’ve been very clear that he hit me. Either way, nothing happened luckily. It wouldn’t have ended well for either one of us

Yeah I know if he hit you then he is at fault. I know first hand the person doing the hitting is at fault regardless of the circumstance. I was driving a guy blew the red light right dead in front of me. I was the at fault driver even though I had the green and the guy turned in front of me from a side street.
