I got State Reffed

I saw this coming since the day I bought my 2021 GT in good ol california lol. I knew I was gonna do forced induction asap lasted a whole year and a half before they got me. Funny thing is the cars been in the garage for the past 3 weeks while I just finished up the LP Fuel system to go E85 with a Vortech V3. Was casually moving the car from the garage back to my home about 15 mins away. Cop was headed opposite way as I was doing absolutely nothing illegal (car looks stock from the outside even stock exhaust and no window tints) he flips a b and pulls me over for “tinted taillights” proceeds to say I was doing nothing wrong and noticed my nittos on the rear and ask me to pop the hood, immediate state ref but the cop didn’t even know what he was looking at, by the end of it he’s like “it’s a really nice car just put that engine in something else”

wondering if anyone has any state ref nightmare stories and options I should take to get this taken care of. Really leaning on paying the ticket and praying I never get pulled over again because I am definitely not going back to stock.

Assuming this isn't your daily driver, I suggest you setup an out-of-state LLC in Montana and register the car there. Problem solved!

California cops are being assholes now days. All the ricers and the BMW crap shit exhaust pops makes them hypersensitive. I got pulled over for front license plate and got a warning on my stock exhaust. lol Whatever mods you do, make sure its a easy one that you can return to stock to get it reffed up then go back to baddasery.

edit: I see you have extensive mods. Just pay it LOL I am waiting for the carb approved Whipple so I can give them a finger bastards.

Find you a good lawyer then plead your case as he likely violated your 4th amendment rights.

Typically used on trucks and SUVs. Considered them for my DD truck but they look pretty unique.

I’ve heard people use fyourticket or ticket dismissers with good results sometimes they just try to throw it out. I will use them when I have trouble. I laugh you can go walk into a store and steal 1000 dollars of stuff and they smile and wave but you come down the street in your modified car all hell breaks loose. You woulda been better off stealing that super charger than having it on your car ha ha.

I went down a reffed rabbit hole one day on youtube. The CA popo can ref you even if you're out of state, even if you are just visiting! It seriously is a total commie/nanny state place these days. I watch video after video of guys getting reffed for stock Mustang exhaust and the grief they had to go through to get the car CA legal again. I'm staying in Indiana where we can drive straight exhaust, no fenders and no hood, just have turn signals, headlights and a horn! smh.

Honestly I don't know how you folks hang on there. I've spent a lot of time in CA from San Diego to Norcal and it's a beautiful place but the cost of living, taxes, politics, crime issues, no way.
