Fyi there.is a legend around that thicker oil in the diff =less.heat.
Is actually the opposite.

thicker oil.in the diff = HIGHER TEMPS.
A thicker oil will "resist.better in case u go for.long time above 250cht

Engine oil temps are the key. A bigger cooler should be in your plans really soon if you keep tracking it.
Racelouvers.com help to dissipate heat (and add front DF)

LAST. MOST IMPORTANT IS BOXING AND DUCTION THE FRONT RADIATOR. AT LEAST THE OUTSIDE to have all the air passing through the radiator!
Have fun.

You sir, are why I loved my Mustang in the beginning, but hated it at the same time. Obviously you’re one (if not) the best driver on this forum, as well as one of the most (if not) the most knowledgeable to the A10 and 5.0 GT in the S550. I’ve watched all of your comps, and followed you. Cheers to your future in the driving community!! Best vid is the Camaro airbag 😉

Correct, and honestly, it was the best decision of my life.
I had an off-road background prior to track….(pre-40yrs old)…..and as I got older(42), needed to find a different hobby that worked with life (kids in sports). Spending multiple nights on the trail, was not it. Spending multiple hours under a Mustang, was not it.
Spending maybe 1hr per track session to swap out track tires/wheels/pads on a 911, and still go very, very fast….that just made my heart warm. I’ve done 5 consistent days now in the 911, and after figuring out which tires/pads the first 2 days….I’m golden….and is worth 3X what I paid for the car.
Then there’s the part where it’s fun to drive on the weekends, although me and the fam really don’t care for the attention when in certain areas.

I will and have been completely honest with you and every track community - my 2020 GT after being built to what I’ve stated, on 285/35/19 GY SuperCar3’s, I have done a 1:29 on my local track (Portland International Raceway). My 992 911S (camber plates, KW HAS, Sport Cats, Ferodo 3.12S, GY SSR’s, stock tune)…is 1:25.
So 4 seconds faster. F-1 and I think the F-1 E race cars were 1:09ish. My stock Mustang GT PP1 was 1:45ish.
The difference is….consistency. 911S will go every lap, for as long as you’d like….without 1 hiccup. (I haven’t had to point-by any car, the past 12 sessions on track (3 days), That’s to include some pretty bad-ass CAM cars, I’ll post vids of one going off-track in front of me shortly).

You are 100% correct, and I would highly recommend anyone tracking a Mustang to run as wide as possible. I ran 285 squared just to save cash on track tires. Which did help! Another reason for a Mach1 recommendation, you can go bigger! With the Mustang you can slap on MUCH wider front tires that really help, with the 911, you’re pretty constricted to a front 255/265MAX, and rear 315/325MAX….I can only go 255/315 with the 992 911S in stock form, so I’ll lose the battle to cars that can fit 265/325 (GT3RS).

My garage pic of tires.
The 285/35/19 GY SC3’s overtake my 911S GY Eagle F1’s by quite a bit, they’re in the back and about 3” taller than the other 4 sets of tires.

Obviously the MT82 is 4 less gears, so correct, that’s the A10. Rabbit holes can be gone down, but the A10 stayed cool after the cooler, diff did as well…..the engine oil, I was able to overheat after all the coolers…..on the freeway, doing spirited runs for 15-20 miles. I know you see me holding higher RPM’s on track, but for faster lap times that’s how the car needed to be driven.
The PP1 GT 5.0 ECU reads oil temps based off of coolant temps, even though an aftermarket oil cooler is installed. Shit design, IMO. The only way to fix this, is to cool the coolant (larger radiator, holes in hood/fenders). A simple oil cooler did not work.
Which is why I recommend the Mach1 with an ECU that is programmed to recognize the coolers.
I didn’t want to cut the car up, and be out $65K and unhappy with the results. I wanted to stay on track for 30+ minutes without a worry and be fast, with consistently low lap times. That cost me about $100k more, but it’s done, and I’ve never been so happy 😝
I honestly think the Mach1 is the way to go for a fun, affordable track package. I was soooo close to going that route, just had the opportunity to not. I’d recommend the Mach1 to all that want a great track experience with no headaches and fast last times.
You’re correct regarding the oil temperature being infered from coolant but removing the factory oil to water cooler and adding an oil to air cooler not only do cool the oil better but also remove a huge heat load from the coolant

For those on this thread that track their cars 2-3 times a year, does the PP radiator make a big difference from the stock GT radiator? I am trying to decide between upgrading to the PP one or just sealing the current stock radiator.

I've looked at the mishimoto intercooler, however I do have the extended 100k mile warranty. Now I know if the dealership ever found out I took it to a track day they wouldn't warranty me more than likely, but I would like to stay with Ford parts. For deniability reasons lol! Im worried if I ever have an issue with my car they would deny work because of the aftermarket radiator. This car will also not be turned to full track rat, it's still my daily. Thoughts?

The warranty isn't necessarily out of the window, they'd have to prove the track day broke whatever broke and it would have to break on the track. If the part were to break on the street then I would just not tell them its been to the track. They'd never be the wiser lol! If the PP1 radiator is sufficient enough to where I could box it and throw in a cool down lap every once in a while, I would be okay with that.
