How's the Ride?

How's the ride with the 20" wheels on the 5.0? For those whose driven both,
would one say it's better or worse than a 5.0 with the PP's 19" setup? I'm talking smooth ride quality not performance handling. I've tested a 2015 GT with PP and found it quite rough on our bad roads. The roads I am subjected to are either potholes or bumps {filled potholes}.

I have a '16 GT Premium with the 20" wheels. I live in Alaska where we have few nice smooth roads. Most roads either have potholes, repairs, or frost heaves. With that said, I feel the ride is good.

I always drive with one eye on the road to avoid bumps and holes. No matter what I drive.

The ride on a PP car is great, considering it's handling prowess. If you don't like the ride compromise, I'd ask what you're used to driving. Also, if you tested a 2015 car the tires might have been shot, or cheap replacements. Tires are a huge variable in ride quality, and the OEM tires ride pretty well until they start to wear, which is fast, they only last 8K-12K miles.

Also, lots and lots of posters complain about the roads in their area. I highly doubt your roads are worse than anyone else's that complains about theirs.

Thanks for replies. I've been driving my 05 GT with 235/55-17's for 12 years. A taller sidewall by far from the 20" wheels. The 20" rims do fill out the cars look better than the 18" standard rims.

I wouldn't be too concerned right away. There's a few relatively inexpensive things to do to significantly improve the ride quality. I would decide if you want the other parts of the performance pack or not. The brakes, the chassis stiffening, the torsen diff, the 3.73 gears, the wheels and tires. Most of those things are MUCH more expensive to add on later, and make the car much better to drive than a non-PP car.

IMO 19" wheels are the best look on this platform. I do like the factory option 20's, but on the whole 19" is the right balance between wheel/sidewall/wheel well. Drastically better than the factory 18" wheels.
