KBB et. al. only look at transaction price. Not fantasy "asking" prices.
What's stopping a used car company from showing their car's as "sold" and then moving them to another lot? Manipulating numbers is nothing new.

People may watch the market, watch certain cars and see them being listed as "sold" on a website. Then when the next one pops up, they subliminally have a baseline their willing to spend.

This happens on sites like Ebay or other auction sites.

I'm sure some percent may be gamed, but between DMV sales records and so forth, the fraud gets lost in the noise.

I've been toying with idea of selling my Mach 1 ('23 Premium, non-HP, A10, Elite, 700A, 19 magnetic PTD wheels, Nav.), only has 1000 miles on it, chassis number P1390. . Bought it new off dealer floor with 10 miles on it, dark matter gray. Also has Ford Protect Warranty until 04/2031 (100k miles). While trying to figure out a selling price, I see places like Carvana, CarMax, and driveway are offer way less than even KBB. What happed? Market appears soft, nobody has any money I guess.

What's a fair asking price these days?? I have a feeling I'm gonna take a beating.

I’d say $50K. Don’t know how much you paid so I can’t judge your loss, but I’d feel confident with that or very close.

50 to 55K, I'd start high and see if you get any bites.

I ve been watching some higher end Mustangs and they have been sitting for months at what I think are inflated dream prices.

Do you need to sell it or do you just want to sell it.
Advice from a successful used car dealer, "the best time to sell something is when you don't need to".

I don't need to sell it, I didn't pay MSRP, but wow $50k, that appears low for such low miles. Original one owner, no mods, Ford Mach 1 cover, owners kit, etc. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Here are the averages on all cars.
On average for any new car you can expect to loose 30% in first two years, then 10% every year after, by that calculus I should be showing a loss of 45%, based on this latest offer (3.5 years in about 6 months ago), their offer was a loss of only ~30%, so that is better than average but...

How does that compare to sports cars in general, or mustangs specifically I don't know....

No plans to sell here. Biggest issue would be finding a suitable replacement, that will be impossible to do factoring inflation and there aren't many other cars that offer what the M1 does for somewhat reasonable money. The DH is supposed to be the incrementally improved model from Mach 1, but the asking prices for those are in the stratosphere, plus I don't like that car.

i dunno…if you’re buying a car based on how much value it’s gonna have or lose, maybe keep your bus pass 😬

Not trying to make a profit and understood on the depreciation. Just appears the Mach 1 market is a bit low compared to earlier in the year.

It seems the 2021 M plated release year vins get a slight bump, but not enough to offset condition, but overall, the Mach 1 hasn’t depreciated much for me at all.

I just recently bought mine so I was hunting for the right one for a few weeks. Hard to find one under 3k miles with elite package and handling pack. But I found that any fully loaded (HP, EP, Etc) 6MT Mach 1 with 500-1500 miles were priced between $58-$67k. I did find some low mile non-hp units in the mid to low 50’s. I would say they’re holding their value pretty well. The prices on the GT350’s have only gone up. Specifically 19/20 models and any R models are insanely priced with high miles.

Good luck trying to sell anything right now. It is brutal.

The HP’s will get more because there’s not as many of them. Mid-$50’s seems reasonable right now. If you don’t need to sell it, I wouldn’t. Wait it out a bit. The Mach’s overall have held their value pretty well relative to other cars, I don’t think that will change anytime soon
