Don't burn me to hard if this is a dumb question as I'm still learning about tuning and how the motor works with it in different set ups.

I'm curious about if anyone else is set up for there car to add its own timing and how much hp you gain as it adds. My tuner has me on a more conservative tune because the fuel is not super great and boostane is the only thing that keeps the car from pulling timing wot. I only need about 6-8oz per fill up and she pulls great. I had some knock issues that was definitely false ended up being the a.c bolt tapping while on the dyno and was at 620 with the knock sensor turned down and stayed at 0 with out boostane. Curious how much hp does the car gain when it adds its own timing.

2200sl
Fic 1000 / vortech plug n play
3.8/lth
93/8 oz of boostane
Set at 15* but the car will add add up to 4*

If you're set at 15 and it adds up to 4 degrees then that equals 19 degrees. That seems like pretty solid 93 to me. Or do you mean it's adding 4 degrees to equate up to 15. If it's doing that, then that's pretty normal for an FI car. It really depends how much "HP" it'll add with advanced timing. If you advance too much it stops having a positive effect and doesn't really do anything to help the cause. Even more creates knock. Advance timing without knock and without negative effects is more about being an efficient motor than actually adding horsepower. Its more common to lose a ton of power with knock than to gain much power simply from adding a few additional degrees.

It is at 15* And it adds the remaining. Tuner said let it add its power so incase I don't have boostane or fuels not great it will keep its self safe just keep an eye on the knock sensor on the sct especially if no boostane.

Letting the PCM add timing is totally fine and good to do with coyotes

That's what I was told was the best route for the csr. I was curious about how much hp you gain as the car adds its own timing. I honestly was wondering what my numbers would be with out going back on the dyno. Since I was 620 with the car not adding any timing what it might actually be now that it does.

Typically 20 hp per degree, but is more when further from mbt and diminishes to nothing as you approach mbt. I have a really good table showing this but it was done at 9.5/1.
