How much HP needed for 200mph

I'm surprised nobody mentioned upgrading a few things before attempting 200 mph in a GT. Personally, I'd get an aftermarket drive shaft (aluminum or carbon fiber 1-piece) and a W or Y speed rated tire.

Hopefully no one is stupid enough to try 200 mph on some generic cheap all-seasons... What a disaster.

most tires come with a warranty so if a tire fails at 200 mph, you can get a new one at no charge, or at least at a pro-rated discount.

I have a 2015 Mustang Gt Premium and before I change anything, I'm wondering how many horses will I need to make this a 200mph car. Giving it from a stop to about 2 miles to get to 200 mph. Will I be able to do this with gt350 manifold, headers, and tune or will I need FI?

I think the 2012 Shelby gt500 could pull this off. It would likely be cheaper to buy one used than dump a lot of mod on your existing car. going for around low 20k area for a decently used sub 100k gt500. Now will you survive...??? VIDS OR IT DID'NT HAPPEN.

This is a good tool for calculating mph, using all of the relevant factors like rpm, gearing, and tire height. I went 190mph in the half mile, roughly 1200whp, 15GT, not something I’d advise doing anywhere except 1/2 mile and 1 mile events.

I'd guess 500rwhp would get close to 200 on a 18+ and enough road.

My 18' PP1 package has hit 181 in 8th on a 1-1/2-mile closed course run, LT's , 3" exhaust, PBD E85, G-Force DS, that's about all it''ll do as it sit's. Thought about hitting it with a 100shot and see what that'll net.

My SC'd 3v hit 194 on a standing mile, Max speed was 200 feet from the end as I ran out of gear, Roughly 850rwhp spraying NOS, T56, 4.10 rear gear, likely would've hit 205 with 3.73's.

According to the math, if the gearing is perfect, you should be able to do it in a 15 S550 with around 640 crankshaft horsepower. Aero drag will be different for a later model due to nose and wing differences.

warranty doesn't cover abuse. I think his would qualify as abuse.

I actually came here to post that. Most important thing to have is tires and good brakes. I would also recommend a full roll cage, helmet, and a parachute assembly, if you can afford it. If things start to go bad at 200mph, I want extra protection and a way to stop fast.
